upgrade wordpress with fantastico?

    Hello,

    I have some wordpress blogs installed in version 2.1.3 and want to uprage them to 2.2. But I have installed plugins and added adsense to the themes.

    Will I lose the adsense and plugins if I upgrade? Or will it stay the same?

    No, everything will be same as before upgrade. Just deactivate all plugins, replace all wordpress files, open www.yourweb.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php, upgrade wordpress and activate all plugins (dont forget to backup database and all older files)... If will be any plugin uncompatible you can easy download newer version or downgrade to older WP :)

    When you do this particular upgrade using Fantastico, you will find that you are no longer be able to post to or edit your blog (when you hit the "publish" button, you'll get an error message) - or you'll get font errors.

    In order to get your blog working properly again, you will need to edit wp-config.php to delete two lines - the lines than mention DB_CHARSET and DB_COLLATE .

    Fantastico has just released 2.2.1 for upgrades. What I've written above may still apply but you'll have to try it and see.

    I want to just leave my blog unupdated. Any reason why I should update it? And can I stop fantastico sending me emails every 12 hrs?

    usually I update my WP from fantastico with no problem. I never unplug all the plugin and just upgrade it from fantastico. All will be done correctly without any loss. But usually backup all of your database to prepare something happen when upgrade.

    you can contact your web hosting to stop fantastico sending email
