    Both are entirely different - .ORG is where you can download the wordpress script - plugins and themes to setup your own individual blog - so as wordpress.com is the blogging website where you can create your own blog for free

    If you can download a backup of your content then the self hosted version will be able to import it.

    Have you got a domain and hosting ready?
