updating your site can make your earnings go down. i updated mine and then my earnings went down 50%. i now get low paying advertisers. im trying to filter them out and trying to bring back my old content.

@playkid: dude, that doesn't even make sense unless you really went and mess up your placement and blending. Give some specific examples of what you did or changed. Other than that, it could be just a variation of the traffic that you got on the day - it happens.

Nothing to do at all with whether you "update" your site or not. In fact, updating your site regularly encourages Google to crawl your site.

i still get the same traffic. remember when you update your site, your content changes and when your content changes, your advertisers change as well (you will see different ads) so on my side, i basically flushed good paying advertisers and let low paying advertisers in.. also i changed my meta tags so this might be the reason as well.

Ah ok then that would make sense. Changing the content changes the kind of ads that you'd get on the page. That's obvious.

Why did you get rid of the higher paying content then?

    agree with mooiness.

However, I do notice that after doing a major change in my site (facelift or content or placement) I get fluctuations either in pageviews or earnings. I'm assuming this is due to the fresh page having to load and regular visitors getting used to the 'new' thing.

So back to your situation. Me thinks it was a one-off anomaly (assuming your earnings have been steady). There's bound to be fluctuations. My Adsense earnings fluctuate at the rate of averagex3:badX1:goodx2:BESTx1.

So in the future what will you do when you update your site, what would you advise others to do?

Maybe make a copy of your old content on your desktop so you can change it if you don't like the out come of the new content?

I'm WAY over due for some fresh content on my site. Just too busy doing business to think about it.

Keep a copy of your old content before replacing it with the new one! so if things get ugly, you can just switch back anytime.
