I'm just curious if there is a schedule that google follows as to when it shows backlinks to a website as seen by the command links:domain_name.com? ie is it as soon as google sees the backlink, it will show it, or is it once a month that it updates etc?
Google updates visible backlinks sporadically, and they don't have a set update timescale or let webmasters know when they update. The last backlink update wasn't long ago, so I wouldn't expect another for a couple of months. Google's link: tool is purposefully crippled by G anyway, and will not show you all backlinks that Google knows about anyway.
Carmen, Google knows about a link as soon as it crawls a site. The "link" search query will only show a sample of links. Try Yahoo or MSN to get a better fix on numbers.
not sure if there is a BL update now but IBP showed me an increase. a datacenter check at seologs did not show any changes though. not that it matters...
