Not really, I'm not a google fanboi, nor a particular regular reader of Cuffs, however I do believe he has a point, and in that I'm not alone.

If you think a 1-2 place change in the serps represents a "algo change" you're just crazy. Just iterating a algo change probably takes weeks if not months for google.

It's all good grazzy - I'm tough skinned and it's not too easy to hurt my feelings. Minstrel has given me a cyber-slapped around the net and back to DP again, and I wouldn't have it any other way ... it's all part of playing the game and learning too.

Also, I know who gave the rep and know that it wasn't you ... gotta have some to give or take some. I found the rep and comment comic, not offensive or hurtful ;)

We're like a big family - you're never going to agree all the time, but in the end we still support one another.

Sssh ... I'm just playing the martyr :D

No, I'm not sure if it was here or some other place, but I recall sticking my little foot in my big mouth once or twice and getting a free education. At least I don't refer to it any longer as a cyber bitch slap :) No, it was all good and well deserved as I recall ... I've only been on forums about a year, so it was valueable lessons learned - I refrain from calling them mistakes. Mistakes are when you know better or fail to learn from them.

» Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I also admit to making it sound worse than it was ... making Minstrel out to be the big bad father figure to scare the kids ;) «

    Hi Grazzy

I am not arguing the fact Matt has points that are helpful and probably most posts of his are going to be ...but there is also that fine line etched well at Google that he and the other bloggers dare not cross..

As such the reporting then is biased and lends itself to questioning the full credibility of the poster.

And I think maybe this is where the difference comes in and you can actually see Matt comment on it when he talks about needing to hink before posting.

There are writers who blog whom have nobody to answer to but themselves so their cred level is a bit higher than what I call 'blog posters 'those who "post" to a blog...... after it has been edited, reviewed, or whatever other thing a company might do to protect itself.

Hope that clears up some confusion.

No it doesn't. Are you suggesting that what Cutts tells us about Google practices, etc., is false? Or that he doesn't know what he's talking about? Or that he is in some way deliberately misleading people?

Definitely not necessary Doc, but thanks.

Actually, it should be me thanking you for the education and mentorship!

Thanks - I've learned lots from forums, especially from DP and in particular from great fellow community members like you.

Okay, someone get me a tissue ....

    No

I am saying he is a Google 'employee' as such what he has to say is monitored and probably approved before posting.

And Google is not going to tell us yes or no to most questions.....

That after all these years is apparent..

    I defer back to Ben

But that does NOT mean that what they do tell us shouldn't be believed. Just that they (obviously) won't tell us everything they know.

See above. It doesn't apply here. You can believe what you hear and see in this instance -- as long as you remember you probably are not getting all the facts.

If I am not getting all the facts... then I am no better off than if I continue to speculate.

You should definitely mention individual names there.

Otherwise, i'll just go and cry myself to sleep. :p

Well the comment was directed at Doc and to mention other names would have diluted my intended gratitude towards him; also, it's a duanting undertaking of a task to try and remember all by name with the horrific hindsight later that you've forgotten someone.

If you're looking for examples to some extent, we started naming names in this DP thread, but it's more about B/S/T and it was started to highlight good experiences after hearing some whining and over emphasis of the contrary.

So for now, someone pass expertu a tissue too - Rob won't add to this names ;)

Damn, I'm not sure to call for a group hug or shout "Toga" and start the party.

I love how a thread can take on a new life here. Better yet, takes on a new twist that's fun, productive and informative.

Tap that keg - pass out the mugs!
