Check your rankings.. reals.com was banned, and unbanned. Now banned again. A few days ago, i remember it was number one for: real estate directory
Doesnt surprise me since they were using a 302 hijack of sites in the directory. I know I reported this to them and when I got no response, I reported it to Google. Maybe Google did do something about it.
And what does banning a site have to do with an update? See http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=51628
I moved from #10 to #9 today ... that's not an update? Sorry, couldn't help myself. Thanks for pointing out that thread by Mitch, Minstrel - an awesome one!
I can confirm, there's definitely a big update going on. I moved from #7 to #8... No doubt they are penalizing reciprocal links
By update I mean algo chnage, not pr update. Clearly getting banned and being number one and getting banned again is a sequence of dramatic changes. Some people are so sick of people using the word update that they immediately give a red for it. This is not fair, but who cares
Yeah, don't fret the reps, real. However, a more specific title may be more prudent in the future. Back on topic though, with all of the updates ongoing since the last TBPR public update, i.e. Jäger (Jagger), Google Directory, backlinks, et al, coupled with the fact that Google actually has several datacenters, it's not surprising to see completely different results from one day to the next; hell, from one hour to the next The sequence of ban / unban / ban could be a mere shift in which DC you're pulling data from, not an algo update ... just my theory.
Please, before posting ANYTHING else on these boards, go read http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/whats-an-update/ - both of you. And no, before you reply with some kind of cheaky reply here, read it again, because you clearly doesn't UNDERSTAND it.
grazzy - whats is its that I doesn't understand thank to you fors the edjumacation ... I read just fine thanks. You can read that above statement, or his entire entry, and twist and turn to your convenience. One way would be to say that there's an update everyday and hence justification for folks to post threads about an update daily which just has the barnyard full of chickens running around declaring that the sky is falling. Of course the other way, is to say that datacenters stay in a constant state of flux and it's possible to see different results from one moment to the next without it necessarily being an update.
Actually, grazzy, I think you're the one that doesn't understand. I'm guessing that "both of you" refers to the posts by wrmineo and mattmdesign above which are obviously meant as humor/irony. I suggest you read http://www.google.com/search?source...&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-35,GGLG:en&q=define:humor and http://www.google.com/search?source...&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-35,GGLG:en&q=define:irony ...
It's all good Minstrel ... he's not the only one, I just got the most intelligent "red" I've gotten in awhile :sniff: I'm so misunderstood :sniff:
There are so many boneheads in the world I'm amazed sometimes that our species isn't extinct. Afterthought: ARE you a Mormon? In that case, you might have a case for approaching the MTC and having them pay the guy a "visit"...
I had this huge move. I went from #9 to #7 on a term. A word that had been stuck at #30 moved all the way up to #27. Its not like google updates every day and things move around constantly. This is a major algo shift /sarcasm
Ok and lets all bow down and hail Matt as the be all and end all for what is what with Google?? Let's slide in the words - misinformation propoganda smokescreen Matt's a Google 'employee' Since Im from Philly and its Ben's 350th birthday or something a quote is appropriate “Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.†Ben Franklin
Ya Google doesn't update daily... Actually I belive change is continual with Google at least from watching rankings which change daily I am sure while not an update in the literal sense of the word there is always going to be change...with all of the datacenters and the amount of time it takes to get the information to them things will change pretty much hour to hour... If not now I also believe this is where the engines are headed as being relevant means being current and up to date.. Yesterday's news is old news....
Thank yah very much for the fish and everything. I reconed the irony (a tad to late though, and forgot to edit out the "both"). Anyway, it wasnt me that gave red rep wrmineo.
