It would be very bad for competition if Microsoft bought Yahoo, then there would only be two major search engines left controlling the whole of the internet. Nothing good can come from this and I don't understand that there are no serious protests against this take over yet.

Personally, I do not think it will be good for competition. Just hope that Yahoo will remain as it is.

I agree with edhan. I quite like Yahoo!'s services, which are a quality alternative to Google's, but they would surely go down hill if bought by M$. Also, competition breeds innovation; would the "big two" become lax and start spending less on R & D?

I don't think it would effect the giant Google.

That will be good. And If they do that, they might beat Adsense.

    I find it is good.

Competition may lead to high advertising click rate.

    Agreed with you,

see my other post at for the pattern:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=784870

    An example here:

there is only one home telephone company here in last 20 years, (hong kong : 1usd$=7.8hk$)
people pay over hk$1xx per month for many years,

but now there are over 5 home telephone companies, whom pay for lowest price of hk$3x each month

Decrease so much in price for us, the consumers now , due to more competitions...

Who is the king, we don't care much but only for our own profits (as trader role)!!!!!???????

I think they would develop Yahoo more. And if ever Microsoft, or the owner, Bill gates, buys Yahoo, Bill Gates will return to the Top 1 richest person in the whole world. Because I have read a blog saying that Warren Buffet got now the 1st place.

Does this go against any anticompetitive ruling?
