Update the ALT tag to use the image description

I have been in talks with my programmer regarding adding "ALT" tags to my thumbnails.
    (the website is http://www.surfimages.com).

Once you click on a thumbnail, you will notice there is a a description. He has suggested we use that description as the "ALT" tag.

What happens if I have hundreds of photos of "Kelly Slater surfing" and the description is the same thing over and over and over "Kelly Slater surfing". Will Google frown upon this?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. JE

You for sure need alt tags for Google to pick it up and adding it to the image search.
Regarding the same alts, I would give them the correct description what the image is and is about. Not just the title of the file. As I looked at your image titles and they have nothing to do with what you see.

Name your alts as what you see! Otherwise there is no point having an alt if your just giving them random names that have nothing to do with what you see.

    Good luck! :)
