So true. I do think that SEW is over moderated too. Forums should let people say what they want and not edit to provide fluff. About a week ago I was giving it straight to a guy on SEW and Danny S. came along and edit my post. Well, I didn't use bad words and it pertained to the post........ kind of messed up. I can tell you one thing it makes me not want to post there anymore.
GG first mentioned, google is just changing some infrastructure. Then now, he is saying update is done 0.5 out of 3.5. What i consider is, from technical point of view, one can not update 0.5 code of 3.5. If one is going to update, will update fully. Secondly, i think algorithm change is there. But not major. Should be in filters only. My site was like in sandbox and with this change now its 17th. So Algorithm change may be in sandbox filters.
I havn't seen much movement in my keywords until today (and all my keywords made huge jumps in the right direction). Using the McDar Datacenter Quick Check, it looks like all the datacenters are showing the same results. Do you think the update is complete? How is everyone else fairing so far?
Here's hoping so, Ive seen about 5 different fluctuations in the past week or so. Going from nowhere to be seen, to #9, to the bottom of the heap, to #8, then to #7.
I'm not seeing any movement, PR0 and still way off the rankings. Beginning to really believe I'm sandboxed. Also no update in backlinks. Think I will manually check my links and start linkbuilding again. Worried, but encouraged by other's success. Hope things stabilise in your favour. -s.
Be patient mate if your PR0 due to having a new site give it at least 6 months to expect good rankings with G. In this time you can develop links and content for your site.
Funny, If I remember correctly you took a lickin' in the last update but it was all green for me. The opposite this time. 2/3 of my keywords dropped all the way off the map... primarily today. Total bloodletting. Maybe the update isn't nearly over or...
The DC's are starting to group together but I'm still seeing variations between them although they are only very small (often only 1 or 2 places). I'm on the 1st page for most of my target keywords!
WMW isn't quite that bad. I haven't had anything good to say about Google recently and I haven't been banned yet. What is annoying about WMW is that you can't mention your own sites. It makes helping people, or asking for help, almost impossible. "See... I have this site about widgets... and it's like this... " GoogleGuy is the draw to WMW. The software sucks, the interface sucks, the moderation sucks, the stench of fear of being taken over by DP (or WPW...) is overwhelming.
I think it is only a matter of time before GG makes his appearance here, if he hasn't already. This forum is taking over, and why shouldn't it. WMW was pretty good about 3 years ago... but it has started to head downhill. They have never updated that site and the mods are utterly useless. They help no one. PS: I hope this update sticks... I have had some huge gains today...
Actually, Will, what I ended up doing was using the Google automatic url removal system since the site I mentioned was only cached - it had been taken down after the February update, when apparently Google did make some changes in handling these 302 directories, and many similar directory sites got hit. As long as the link is dead (true 404), anyone can. I did it to several I was aware of being down yet still having a cache. Google's bot is acting differently since then, coming in and getting a larger number of pages at once, and a bit more often. (Note: This may not be related to what I did.) I suggest anyone that knows that a cache of a 302 redirect is still out there, but the site is down, do the same. It certainly cannot hurt. Lawrence
