Update ON Google PageRank?????????????????

    Hi all,
PageRank algorithm seems to have changed to incorporate penalties for selling text link ads as well as getting involved into link schemes by participating in blogs network. More significance has been placed on quality rather than quantity of inbound links!

What do you think of it?

In this PR update Google has manually changed PR for many sites which are buying/selling links

I think it's very unlikely that they edited millions of sites manually. If they did, they did a very bad job. It seems to be an algo change that they need to tweak a lot.

google has deleted some of backlinks because of paid links (i was not selling links or buying links but google has deleted my backlinks too). i think the reason for pr decrease is this

Can anyone confirm page rank reductions for buying paid links?

It seems to be all who sell

What backlinks did you see go away? Were they from other sites you own or other sites on the same network as you? Or were they from blogs? I think the same thing happend to me as I was not selling links.

There was an article on Forbes.com about this. (They were one of the sites hit). Most affected webmasters are reporting a drop in PR but no corresponding drop in traffic from Google. Rand Fishkin speculated that it was Google's way of giving a warning shot across the bow.
