"Update Content for higher rank" what if you don't have new content?

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by sd2010, Jun 14, 2010.

    Hi

I've read here and in other places that updating the content of a site helps with ranking.

My problem is that my site is for a service (taxi business) that doesn't change. I've laid out the information about who we are, what we do, prices etc and that's it.

Should I just keep re wording the pages every few weeks? Or does update content mean NEW content?

    Thanks!

Just make a blog, maybe use the subdomain, and input some content

It means new content - there are some sites that simply never get new content, and that is fine...you'll have to focus your efforts on local internet marketing and backlinking.

High light the great spots to visit in your city.
Or talk about a restaurant you really enjoyed.
Make it all about the fun stuff around your town.

This is a very good idea, you can build on that make your own little guide about the city where you work, maybe talk about fastest routes , and so on , this will generate content, whether for your web-site or your blog.

Both Freebie and Pixel have a great point. Some sites simply do not leave much room or option for more or new content. I think you should focus your attention on external link building and marketing. I also do not think you should worry too much about PR, it does not increase traffic or guarantee that you will have additional clients. Because you have an actual offline service I think you should develop an offline marketing strategy that INVOLVES your email and your company website. Also try yellow pages online.

A blog like yoursite.com/blog would do the job. Publish some related articles to your business and you will be doing fine in no time.
Not only does Google love bigger sites but you will get even targeted traffic from long tail keywords. Kill two birds with one stone :)

    HI

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

I've been entering the site to local directory websites etc.

I'm a little confused about creating a blog. Do i create one on an actual blog site or just have a page on my own site with the new content? What blog site would be best to use?

As for articles, should I write one article and post it on many article sites?

    Thanks again!

In terms of articles you should write a unique article for each article platform. Also watch otu for do follow and no follow articles.

articlebase.com is a good one but it is a no follow
ezinearticles.com - is dofollow , but they sometimes ask you 100 times to fix your article. (this is reccomended)

You can use Wordpress and implement it into your own site, you dont actually have to code your own. (wordpress is reccomended if you install the all in one seo pack they have!)

one more thing whenever you write an article you must submit that article to social media and boomakring sites such as : facebook, twitter, folkd, and friendfeed. this will indnex your article quickly and getting you a backlink failry fast!

I suggest you get more backlinks, and add a subdomain with stories of taxi drivers and passengers. I think that can liven up the website into a personable website instead of just a business website.

Try to give tips, how to's, don't drink and drive, how to get a quick taxi... try different marketing techniques that make you different from any other taxi service. Serve the community on Facebook and Twitter.

I agree with scheng1, Getting more backlinks can help your business with traffic + ranking better onto search engines on "Google" which is the goal.
