To be clear... If I make a good forum post does that mean people will visit my links in my signature? Because people are creating forum topics about everything from Toe Jam to Space Crafts here.. I just want to know the unwritten rule!!! I want to know the secret too
Not necessarily. Many just read the posts and not even see the signature They'd never get enough reading (or posting) done if they kept clicking signatures
I don't tink so either. The truth is, some people visit sigs and some don't. If it is appealing enough, I'm sure they will get their sigs noticed. Btw, there isn't any unwritten rule specifically for something like this. Also, maybe I haven't seen the forum threads that you saw, but the only ones that I've seen are the ones that ask for specific info about how to build the communities up, etc ... I posted one last week and it got nuked, and I got an infraction for it. I asked people in that thread if they've ever heard of a specifric forum, and I added the URL in the OP. I believe that's why it got nuked. Other than that, I haven't noticed them. Personally, the best way to get traffic thru your sig file is to have an appealing advert, and to become an active member of the community. This is where and when other members will start clicking your sigs. It's about building trust, credibility, etc ... and being noticed here in the end. That's the way it works with most forums realy.
But it can't hurt traffic to your site because search engines follow the links and give ranking to the site you're linking to.
Well it's not true, many people even not see your links, but if you use catchy Anchor Text then it may help you to get some hits from Signature. So choose proper and attractive anchor text for your link and you will have free traffic which is good for your website.
There is no rhyme or reason as to why people visit your signature links, it is mostly just that they see something they are interested in, and decide to have a look.
