This is the situation. We have a site that sells adult novelty items, games, bachelor party supplies etc. We don't ship outside of Canada or the U.S. yet we have half our traffic outside of these countries. What we are thinking of doing is putting a redirect that recognizes that they are not from Canada or the U.S. and pointing them to a "dating" affiliate program. We could probably make around $1000 a month from a dating affiliate and this way those visitors from other countries wont be eating up our bandwidth. this make sense to anyone? Now, what would be the next step?
Whay countries is that traffic coming form? Is it not worth considering setting up shipping for them, or a t least some of them? Looks like an awful lot of traffic to be turning away. Referring to affiliates is a good idea - is there any way you can tell what country a visitor is logging onto your website from? If you could detect that and then let them know you dont ship to their country but heres a link to our parnter website in your country etc, that might work. Hell, what have you got to lose?
Good idea, but don't you think may be they worth taking a look at your website, by doing this you will be making difference between people for marketing porpuse and thats not good, you are free, do what you see is better for you .
If we could ship overseas we would but we prefer to only deal within Canada and the U.S. Anyone know how to do a country redirect 301?
