Unwanted autosurf traffic

I received an email from google adsense today about some of my sites being on autosurf. I couldn't believe it, because I follow the TOS religiously and I built and promoted those sites myself without using autosurf.

But turns out they are right. I checked the stats and there it was... autosurf. I freaking can't believe it. Someone has added my sites to autosurf programs.

I am sure I can fix things to block the autosurf, but as a technical retard, I don't know how. Any ideas?

You could email the autosurf involved, and ask them to remove your site - just explain the situation and I am sure they will be able to do something to help you out.

Why would someone pay for a autosurf package and direct it to someone else's site ?

What kind of site are you running, do you have alot of competition?

Or did you do something you regret to promote your site and you are now trying to find out if anyone is in the same situation as you and what happened to them?

Yes, there is a lot of competition. And the sites have decent trafic.

    - Let's put it this way: if I had done something wrong, I would be removing my sites from the service don't you think?

As per the first question, this is an excerpt from one of the sites:
The sites are highly trafficked so my guess is someone is trying to capitalize on the traffic to increase their own traffic/clickthroughs.

Ok well obviously you have some sort of statistics software running.

Can you tell what IP address or URL the autosurf traffic is coming from?

If you can, you can block the offendning IP from your server.

I can tell you how but it depends on what type of server you run:

    Windows or Linux?

    If so what version?

    Thanks

I think I have determined all the autosurf URLs from Awstats.

Server is running Linux not seeing the version though

    Thanks for the help, appreciated.

Ok well then edit your htaccess file to block the IP address of the autosurf URL, that should solve you problem, run a Google search on blocking IP's in your htaccess file on your server if you dont know how to.
