Post links to websites, forums, blogs and other resources, where you always find something interesting to feed your copywriting muse. I'll start. There's a sub on Reddit called Writing Prompts. It's pretty awesome. Basically someone gives you a situation and you have to write a short story about it. Some of the stories there are amazing. Check it out here: http://www.reddit.com/r/writingprompts
THis sounds interesting. I've tried it on my own and it really works. However, I prefer changing the music I'm listening to inspire myself to create engaging content.
BTW reading interesting and funny content helps me as well. Check this out: Dear Google, Father of userkind, Forgive our foolish search queries! We’re slaves to the visual overload We must rush our prayer because HALO’s next game round will start soon. But Google, we’d like to spend a few minutes more with you To really find some thankful quotes for what I’m thankful forFor our new Alienware, our Samsung wearable, the new bend-free iPhone, our Facebook friends, Verizon, an exoskeleton suit We’re thankful right now to be surrounded by those drones Whose purpose is to take more selfies on our behalf than we’ll ever possibly make on our own.Thankful Google, that You’ve blessed our search beyond measure Thankful that in our PCs live life’s greatest treasure – GeForce graphics. That You, dear Larry Page, reside in that Cloud space And we’re ever so grateful for Your unending precious search resultsSo please, cloudy Google, bless this machine Walmart’s provided And bless each and every person in my G+ circles. Amen! I found it on thanksgiving on softchamp.com/news It might be short but made my smile and this was completely enough to inspire me. Hope it works for you too
Guys, does anybody know where I can find such geeky stuff to read? I found out that it really helps me be more productive
I think there's no particular place for gems like this. You just have to stick around the places with creative people and wait for them to unleash something like this
Alex, it's like I've known what you are about to tell me, man I explore the website, where I found the prayer and check out what I found a thing called selfie drone. OMG this selfie trend is insane. PS: BTW There are lots of cool stuff there. It is a good source of inspiration for now. I'll take your advice, Alex, and continue looking for more places like this one.
Oh come on. Sorry, Alex, that I can't post a link to see this "selfie drone", but I'm not allowed. I really don't know why.
I've seen that stuff And I still think that it's ridiculous. Just like those poles that people use now.
OMG...I keep learning unique things. Aelx, did you check the place of my current inspiration recently? I did it yesterday and read something that amaze me "Casio presented its latest and budgetary selfie camera model called “Kawaii Selfie by Mirror Cam” aka Exilim MR1." I checked Casio's website and it really have other luxury selfie camera. These people don't stop amazing me :X
Read the older classics. I am drawing inspiration from Moby Dick, of all the classics. Reading the older classics also improves your writing chops.
An inspirational book to check out is The Artist's Way It comes with a 12-week program designed to release your creativity. I found it today on Amazon - the kindle version was $10.99. I'm looking forward to all the weekly assignments. Normally, I wouldn't recommend a book I've just started but I can already tell it's going to be awesome. From what I've read so far, I feel a connection with this author. Apparently, it's been popular for quite awhile - she has over 700 reviews.
Just stumbled upon this one - http://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/copywriting-inspiration-list. Appears a bit old though. Have you checked any of them out yet? Old Spice Video Responses is one really worth checking out.
You're welcome @Alex Toll. I think sections like the 'General Chat' we have here are also good places to check out on occasion. Some of the silliest and most pointless discussions can sometimes be a source of inspiration to write an 'out of the box' blog post! Here are some quotes that prove my point - “There is no great genius without a mixture of madness.” - Aristotle “The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.” - Albert Einstein “The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.” - Bruce Feirstein “There is in every madman a misunderstood genius whose idea, shining in his head, frightened people, and for whom delirium was the only solution to the strangulation that life had prepared for him.” - Antonin Artaud “There was never a genius without a tincture of madness.” - Aristotle “There's just a fine line between genius and insanity.” - Oscar Levant “The amount of eccentricity in a society has generally been proportional to the amount of genius, mental vigor, and moral courage it contained. That so few now dare to be eccentric marks the chief danger of the time.” - John Stuart Mill “The guy who invented the first wheel was an idiot. The guy who invented the other three, he was a genius.” - Sid Caesar
