Unused domain name

    Hi,

I am looking to purchase a domain name of a site which hasn't been online for almost 2 months, and looks like it won't be coming back. However upon checking the WHOIS, I find that it is registered to an individual until 2008.

I have tried to contact them, but the email address on their domain registration always fails and is bounced.

Is there any other way that I can purchase an unused domain other than to let it expire.

    Its a .co.uk

Do they have any other contact details like Phone number etc.? You can always call someone up. Otherwise, dig around the Internet for information related to them, it works.

First, it's inaccurate to say a domain name isn't used simple because it has no
website or its contact details aren't accurate. The domain name is considered
used the moment it's registered, and it can be used for a variety of things like
    email, FTP, DNS, etc.

If the email bounced, try other means like phone and snail mail. Be aware also
of the possibility the registrant might not be interested in selling the name as
    well.

There's a chance the email may be down or no longer active and just needs to
be updated. But that's for the registrant to handle.

    Or as Correctus, dig around.

Check to see if it is listed for sale on sites like sedo.com.
