    OK, maybe I'm just stupid, but I cannot wrap my brain around trackbacks (number 4 on the list). Can someone explain why trackbacks are important?

    If you link to some article on a high traffic blog then you can request him a track back. Once approved your article's link will appear in the track back list of that High Traffic Article. Gives you a free back link.
