unsolicited ads

Let us say I am building a web application for which not many companies will be willing to provide ads as of now.

Let us say that I have decided to provide some free ads for a sizeable period of time (6 months), how can I contact the potential companies and convice them? If I e-mail they will consider it as spam.

Can I by the way just put up some ads that I make up - for example I will have an Ad like banner that says - "The ultimate choice for the smarter ones - Windows Vista www.micosoft.com". So this is like a unsolicited free ad for microsoft but will make people think that MS has put an ad in my site.

I dont want to include the standard google ads as I dont think anyone clicks such things and it looks dirty and is not inline with my future business model of putting ads in my portal.

I am blocked. Any opinions/thoughts on this topic?

is doubt this something very tough to answer or share an opinion on - I see that many have viewed this thread but did not respond - I know that I should not expect too much from forums but can anyone please point me towards the right solution at least?

You can use Google Adsense Image Banner if you don't want to use Adsense Text Ads.

In addition, you probably won't have any companies interested in buying space on your site if you don't have traffic.
