I'm getting a lot of email requests for these "India" type companies, and I've actually grown to hate them. The grammar is horrible, and the websites like, "cheap office supplies"... they're just so... I can't explain it, but I hate them. Nonetheless, they offer PR4 and PR5 links, so is it worth it even if it is totally unrelated?
Ive read before that a few unrelated links wont do any harm unless they were from something quite illegal or something, i guess its only if somebody had the majority of their links from these sites then it might not be as helpful.
I run a yoga site, and you wouldn't believe the type of sites that contact me for link exchange. Some amount of unrelated links donot hurt, if they have a PR. Especially true if you have a web directory, also for new sites it might help them to get indexed. But for some sites, which you intend to make it into some kind of primary earning site for yourself, better to steer clear of these unrelated links.
I think having a limit would be helpful. I try to have no more than 15 sitewide unrelated links with a minimum of PR 3.
Kaabi, as far as im aware, virtually all links will give some benefit, unless its a link from something really terrible but then no decent webmaster is going to get a link from what they know is no good for their sites reputation.
Yes you are right in my words there is no unrelated links as each and every links count only if it has PR and also links which are natural may be always unrelative to the sites! So unrelated links cannot do any damage and also The best place tro buy links is the link sales forum here
15 sitewide unrelated sitewide links is too much......If you are going to exchange links do so because of the traffic it will bring first not because of the PR.
I tried to give ya rep there M8..your makin my life easier tonight - great answers.. but aparently I have to spread it around before I give U more.. he he So..public it is... OS is doing some great work lately and is BANG on again.... works for me L8TR OS
That's a good idea, think traffic first, PR later. I know those india sites will bring me 0 traffic, so no exchange!
Its impossible to get hurt for having irreputable sites linking to you or you would see companies getting other companies banned by spamming links to their site. I've tested building sites with high quantity irrelevant links, high PR irrelevant links, and regular relevant links. I've found they all benefited my listings in the SERPS though a few relevant links made a much more significant change then a few hundred irrelevant. And since high PR links are so expensive to get.... its not really worth it.
The grammer they use in their second language is actually excellent. Reminds me, I must scratch up on my Punjabi grammer skills...
If you're building a "golden" site you mustn't get linked from unrelated sites - there are many ways to find relevant links, while linking from sites you meant in this thread is never late.
I already get a lot of traffic from social networking sites for most of my blogs, so I'm thinking PR first and traffic later.
