Here is the question, I have thought/found a rather unorthodox way of getting free high pr quality backlinks (couple of pr6 lots of pr5 and lower) for my sites. It doesn't include spamming but more like gaming a system. There are two ways that this can be done, directly (more greyhat) or indirectly(I believe pure whitehat). Currently I am doing a small test with a site that I developed just for testing this method (I don't believe I will see results in this pr update unless it takes a month or so) but to be honest I am a bit reluctant of using it for my main sites, not because it might get punished by SE (nothing automated - it actually needs a bit of work, no spamming, no bad neighborhoods etc) but because it may look bad for users and visitors. So what would you do? hear the angel or the devil inside your head? ps:I am not giving this method away because there will always be people that will not control themselves and ruin things for everybody that have thought of this.
Actually I wouldn't call it black hat, especially the indirect method. What this technique is based is like participating in a forum, creating a lot of posts and then post your sites in your signature. In other words create a profile with link power and then point that link power to your sites. Of course it has nothing to do with forums and it is much faster than that.
The way you put it, it sounds like you've come up with a completely new way of getting links. I find it hard to believe that there's any new way to do this that hasn't been done in some way before. So now I'm intrigued, and I'm racking my brains to guess what you're up to. But the question of white or greyhat methods hinges on two things: how risk-averse are you, and how much respect have you got for your visitors? There's also the issue of how desperate you are for money and publicity for your sites. There's no right answer, and only you know what you're most comfortable with.
Very difficult to comment on a technique when you don't know what the technique is? Can we at least get a hint?
I'd take a guess and say he's using usenet groups to make posts with his link in the post, some usenet groups are mirrored on websites = link
