    Hi,

Recently I have been discussing what links are discounted by SEs.

The one serious question that came up is what type of links would be termed as spam links or might be declared to be totally done for the search engines.

Any replies would be highly useful in our quest to get the best links. :)

    Thanks,
    Sam

The better question is, what is the "right" inbound link(s) to get, it's a much shorter and eaiser question.

You want inbound links from sites related to your websites (mean the content is related) with the proper anchor text for the keywords\keyword phrases your trying to rank for. The inbound linking website should not have a linking pointing back to it on any of your web pages.

    Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for rephrasing my query. I had no intention to make it sound so tricky.
This part said and done, I would like to ask, how much weightage (if at all) is given to footer links without any content whatsoever (lets assume the site and the page is totally relevant to my theme)
