unnatural links question - update "Links To Your Site"

    Hi All,

    On google webmaster tools, we can see the "Links To Your Site". from that list, we found unnatural links to our site. an example : abc.com - 5,000,000 links (sidewide links).

    We have removed all links on abc.com to our site. but after wait for few weeks...we checked google webmaster tools, "Links To Your Site" still show abc.com 5,000,000 links and google still see that there are unnatural links.

    What should we do to remove it? should we ask google to re-crawl abc.com ?

    I agree with MyArtGallery. Google WMT can take a long time to update. Give it some more time.

    Use the disavow file as well, it can speed up the crawl on deep pages by prompting Google to look at those pages.

    As everyone else said Google is very slow to update them as well.

    Do you have a manual penalty?

    Unfortunately, you should get used to finding out of date backlinks in webmaster tools. I suggest that you additionally used another tool (MajesticSEO, OSE or Ahrefs) and don't focus only on the data from WMT. You can even wait a few months or a year and some of the removed links can still be found there.

    Disavow any bad links. Then you just have to wait. Just wondering how they got so many backlinks to your site. Is it possible the other site used a template with your backlink in the footer? Those footer backlinks are not such a good idea anymore as you never know which sites will use your template.

    You can overcome unnatural link building by building natural links from now.

    See what anchor texts are used often and use other anchor text to naturalize the effect.
