I have had this proxy for about 9 months, never really promoted it, but always hoped that some day I will get to work on it. Meanwhile, my other sites have picked up really well, and I want to devote all my time to them. In a nutshell, I am selling.

The proxy is based on a well known CGI proxy script. I have modified it to display the proxy URL bar on the top for all image requests so that one can capitalize on every image view. That drives "ad impressions" per "awstats page views" ratio higher than you typically see on proxy sites.

The domain is with NameCheap. Free push to your NameCheap account.

The modification I have introduced to display a search box (or a banner, if you have one) for direct image requests still works though. For example, try accessing http://www.webviaproxy.com/cgi-bin/...s.businessweek.com/gen/logos/bw/bw_255x65.gif directly from here.

One more thing. After the sale the site will have to move to the buyer's server. I will not offer hosting. I guess it is obvious, but keep in mind that it is not a good idea to host proxy on a shared account.

Its funny to see everyone sell their proxies sites once summer comes. Good Luck getting that traffic back in September.

 

$1-$5/day per site is good enough for me. I don't see a reason to sell... Somewhat established proxies, I find, very rarely see $0 days... it doesn't matter the season - people still go to work and 2 months isn't a long time for school. Another reason I buy is for unique keywords, because I'm too lazy to write my own copy!

 

I can not be 100% sure, all I can say is that I am getting this traffic without any promotion on myspace, I don't even have a myspace account.

The proxy is unmonetized, I earn $0 of it in all seasons, so summer is not the reason I am selling
