unlock img

    Hello guys ,

    i have an image (gif) and when i try to open it with photshop i cant edit it because it's a locked layer and i cant unlock it , the unlock button is disabled .. any idea why ?

    Select image with select tool, copy it and then paste in new document...

    Simple

    Open > CTRL+A ( Select All ) > New Document ( should be the perfect size already ) > CTRL+V { Paste } > Ready to edit :)

    or simply doubleclick on that locked layer > you'll see a box to name layer - just press ok. done.

    That doesn't work once you opened a gif. Only when you locked it yourself.

    yes right (just tried now) - new document needed to select and copy image to be able to have unlocked layer. sorry for confusing.

    yes the select all + paste thing word, i tested it before ...

    but i mean why in gif i cant' simply unlock it ?

    You guys are all wrong ;P
    go to image>mode>rbg color and the lock symbol should be gone.

    gifs are often index colour and cannot be used as a layer without changing to rgb
