Unlimited webhosting?

    Hi all,

I am searching a hosting company for a site that uses +- 4000GB Bandwidth a month. I know this is a huge amount, and I saw Hostgator .com has the hosting packet "swamp" with unlimited bandwidth.
It is clear to me that a webhosting cant offer really unlimited traffic, because unlimited is impossible.
That is why I am posting, can I be sure they dont pull my site offline when they see I use that much bandwidth?

Anybody has experience with a huge site hosted by hostgator?

    Thanks in advance,

    Raf

    Hello,

Hostgator have a lot of limitations and bla bla on their servers... So i wouldn't worrie about getting suspended because of bandwidth usage... I would get worried about getting suspended for to many connections at the same time, mysql connections, to many hits and all other kind of blocks they have...

    Thanks,
    Freddy

    yes,

I got an email from them just the other day saying they've suspended by account due to over use - and I hardly reached my bandwidth limit - it was just too much to handle at one time.

4,000GB of Bandwidth ? And your looking for a shared hosting account? For starters 90% of web host will have a hard time with this, as stated above it won't be for the BW it will be for the server CPU/Connections/Floods
Globat Might let you slide for a while. I would be looking for a Dedi with un metered BW.
I don't see any other host on hear jumping on this either. Good Luck, it will be nice to find out who you went with and how it goes for future knowledge.

Ok, so I have to look for a Dedi, could somebody give me the names of some of the biggest players in the dedicated server markt?

Space and bandwidth don't cost hosts hardly anything and they are never the issue. The issue is CPU and RAM in a shared environment. In order to reach 4000GB you'd be using up an entire server which obviously does not make things profitable. Since most hosts have restrictions in their TOS to prevent abuse of CPU you'll simply not come close to the insane limits.

Well if you really need 4TB of bandwidth, I would go for a VPS or dedicated server.

I have been using 3ix for over 8 months now and they are in NOT 'fake' ,My sites consume like 2000+ Gb a month in bandwidth and i have had no problems .They also provide excellent support .
Its not a dedicated server though . never-the-less , you get cheap unlimited hosting :)
    Good luck finding a host.

There is no such thing as Unlimited. Anyone touting that is going to lose their shirt, or just shut people down when they find out how much bw they eat... That said, the only way to get 4000GB/mo. is to buy a plan that includes that level of bw. Our Gila Monster Dedicated Server at Hosting Lizard offers that level of bw. For pricing and more detail please visit: http://hostinglizard.com/dedicatedservers.php

If you are looking for shared hosting at this level, we would charge $99.95/mo with no setup...

Sorry to all that are sending me PMs about their own hosting companies, I prefer to work with one of the big companies, since they generally have more experience.

I'm not sure what you definition of "big" is, but we've been in business over 10 years now.. It does not get much "bigger" than that in this industry... ;)
