I tend to stay away from hosts claiming to have unlimited bandwidth. It feels very scammy. As mentioned nothing is unlimited. People shouldn't people to offer things that they can't back up. Skinny
I have to agree. It is selling something that doesn't actually exist and the worst part is that many people fall for it. Probably best keeping an eye out for those threads but there again jumping in on a sells thread could lead to an infraction. Maybe report such offers to the mods?
Please check this out: http://webhostingfordummies.blogspot.com This is my article on unlimited hosting and how it is a peice of crap.
I really have no choice now, the unlimited hosting company that i host now, uni-hosts.com , is really suck, their email is doesn't work, the sh*t owner disappear from the internet and now I really donno what should I do, like dealing with a wall. Sux.
Unmetered is when your usage is NOT "metered" or "mapped" by your provider, it certainly does not mean anything related to what you call "unlimited". Unlimited is when there are no limits set upon you by your provider, which is IMPOSSIBLE according to me.
I forget to add on, he also with the word "unmetered" in his plan, and that really sux now. He run away with the money, I hope this wont happen to other DP members.
Those that typically run unlimited and unmetered web hosting have no business in the industry. In fact, the vast majority go out of business quickly since they often will have someone come across and host a huge file on their webserver. They don't manage it properly (obviously) and they either reach their allotted bandwidth limit (assuming most are on reseller accounts) or they are forced to close their doors at the expense of it. Even if they do catch the account before it gets out of hand, they will close the account... therefore, it isn't unlimited/unmetered. Keep this in mind when purchasing web hosting.
Unlimited does not exist but unmetered does. They are not the same thing Dedicated unmetered at 10mbps allows you to push as much bandwidth as you can through 10mbps port without any overage charges. If you push more then 10mbps of traffic then your site slows down to a crawl. You can find 100mbps unmetered....but that can cost you $1500-$2,000 month. Unmetered is real, unlimited is a scam. www.hivelocity.net www.egihosting.com www.rackforce.com Those are all established that offer unmetered. Check out webhostingtalk.com, ask around... and look up these companies and you will see unmetered is real.
