    HI,

I wanted to know what is hidden secret of unlimited space?
Everybody can understand that nobody can't give or provide unlimited space however i can understand about unmetered bandwidth.

As per my understanding big companies/others is telling that they provide unlimited space but if some one is upload more then 5-10 MB file then immediately they send warning mail that high CPU/other resource usage.

Let me know whether its really possible to give such service ?

The secret is that there is a magic/soft limit that is set in the ToS of the company. You will never get unlimited.

And yes, with shared web hosting on those unlimited plans, they let you know if you use too much cpu/resources.

The Secret to Unlimited Hosting is that, the Prices of Hard Disk Drives has gone down like hell. So they don't limit you to some specific disk usage they allow you to use unlimited usage means; if the hard disk storage space is used up completely, they can easily buy a new hard disk and add it in the system (which doesn't cost them too much).

The same goes for bandwidth; although the bandwidth is not so cheap but the companies usually have bandwidth in Terabytes which is more than enough for shared users so they need not worry about them.

Also as vivithemage said the ToS of the company. Most of the companies offering Unlimited Packages does not allow file sharing websites, means you can't run sites like rapidshare etc, so if you are not a file sharing website you wouldn't use a hell lot of space and bandwidth for your websites.

The CPU resource usage does not have anything to do with the diskspace or bandwidth, if someone gets CPU resource usage warning that means the scripts he is using are utlizing too much CPU RAM, which is a different thing.

All of the unlimited is entirely Marketing. I don't agree with you on space, server hard drive are very very very expensive, you are talking about home desktop computer hd. bandwidth is paid and expensive, i have never seen an isp offering Unlimited bandwidth. Those "Unlimited Hosting Websites" are obviously overselling. and finally Unlimited doesn't exist! so basically they are
lying to you and the performance will decrease with the time.

The CPU usage deal is an issue -- also, the use of load balancing and RAM with traffic is a big deal when it comes to servers.

A 500 GB SATA Hard Disk (7200 RPM) Hardly costs you around 80$ (that is one time fee not monthly, so I don't think that is too much for a web hosting company)You Can also get these in around 50$ but they aren't much good in stability. + If you are renting your server direct from A Data center you get around 3-4TB Bandwidth along with your server yes extra bandwidth is very expensive but mostly some big forum sites having more than 50,000 users hardly use upto 300 GB Bandwidth per month.

As I said if the site are not meant to be a filehosting site. The sites will no way use bandwidth that is above your limits. Plus obviously no host is hosting all the sites on just one server, when the quota of one server is used fully, next sites are hosted on a new server.

Speaking about the Unlimited Hosting; Hostgator and JustHost these are one of the top most reliable and most stable hosts. If they are lying then the whole web hosting industry is lying.

And ok if unlimited hosts are lying then the top web hosting company Inmotionhosting is providing 100,000MB DiskSpace for $3 does that mean they have 100,000 MB Diskspace for each site?

Its not about lying Its about how you manage your servers.

If you dont want to understand I can't help you with that :), I stated this in my first post that Unlimited Plans Have some policies like they can't be used for sites for file hosting services. And any other Normal, BIG and Heavy site would never use more than 100 GB.

Secondly We offer custom Plans, If someone requires a dedicated space and bandwidth, we will alot it to him/her (obviously for extra charges).

You not happy with this? go for the hosting companies which give you 500MB for 5$, they seem to be reliable, never go with the top 10 web hosting companies or any web hosting company which has google PR-5, atleast not these, they all are scammers because all of them claim to offer Unlimited Hosting. :)

A host can just stack the rack with more hd space if necessary. I do believe they do have some kind of limitations written into the tos though that allows them to either suspend your account or force you to upgrade to a more costly package. I can't imagine a shared host letting you use 500mb's, 1GB, or more of space and using 2000 GB's of bandwidth per month all for less than $10 per month. If you use that much space and bandwidth you really should be on something like vps or a dedicated box.

Most average customers will not use much space or bandwidth, but someone new sees company 1 - 5gb's space 100gb's of bandwidth for $7 per month, company 2 - unlimited for $7, so they pick the unlimited.

If your host is complaining about 5-10mb file find a new host. I have seen shared host that will hit you with a cpu/resource warning and suspension for uploading files that use ffmpeg to convert to flv video. Ffmpeg will put a bite into the cpu. And if it is a very big file, or if you upload a bunch of them one after another they might complain about cpu/resources. There are a few shared hosts that have more cpu power and allow you to use more resources than others. They will all have some kind of limit though.

    Do you have a dictionary?

    Definition for Unlimited:
    1. Having no restrictions or controls
    2. Having or seeming to have no boundaries; infinite
    3. Without qualification or exception; absolute

So according to the dictionary........ you are lying!.
