    That is from your site..

I think it is a nice trick to get more back links. :D But it is a bad thing when google see you spamming and abusing the .gov and .edu sites.

What's sad about that statement is I have over 1,100 US government controlled IP addresses blocked at my routers due to spam, DDoS attacks and other abuse. I gave up reporting them years ago since no one ever responded nor did anything about them.

There's a couple of nuclear power plants in there. Makes me feel real safe.

If the google detect the site that are blasting and spamming .edu and .gov sites, google will finalized there site.

In the statement, it is obvious that owner of the blog is post is making a that trick to have a many links from other people. But i dont hesitate that is a good trick and nice one.

As goes for all other Blackhats methods too, this won't last forever.

If you manage to bring your ass over I'll be holding you to that beer, mate

I know, the problem is that my 2 fav teams are still in qualification phase... I have to wait till mid-november to know for sure... I'm planning on staying with a buddy of mine who lives in cape town, so I'm not worried of being screwed by hotels. However, for flights, I'll find the cheapest deal even if I have to transit through Botswana and ride down with the Bushmen LOL

This is not a good practice It is a wastage of time i think they are not a real links and such links never cached.

Checked your site's backlinks and didn't even see a single backlink from a .gov or .edu. I don't find this an effective one.

That looks like a nice and impressive trick to me. Good to give it a try. I hope that this actually works for me as well. If we could get such .gov and .edu links by this, better to try them rather sit and criticize them.

.gov and .edu hold the same link juice as .coms or .nets

I think Jimmy was just trying show:

    a) most of the people here don't know what they're talking about and wouldn't know a good link building strategy from a bad link building strategy and
    b) how to bait people into linking to your site.

It was just an experiment. I thought it was hilarious honestly how many people saw ".edu" and ".gov" and immediately thought, "This is an awesome technique!"

99.999% of the time, if it sounds like an easy way to get links (e.g. forum sig spamming, blog commenting, directory submission, etc.) then it's probably worthless about 99.999% of the time.

    Thanks Cannons;)

A LOT (the majority) of the responses I got were from the same people who post things like "don't do blackhat", "I like your post it learn much to me" or " Google won't like shortcuts"... you know them...A lot of them bill themselves as professional SEOs!

To me this illustrates that the vast majority of people still don't know the difference between real blackhat and legit (and by legit I don't neccessarily mean pearly white hat) techniques.

The more people cry foul about black hats techniques, the greater the probabilty that they have no real understanding of how SEs work, and are dumb bombing or link spamming forums as if that is the #1 SEO technique, despite the proof that it doen't work!

I have said this before, but I believe that a huge number of people on this forum are the worst kind of blackhats! Polluting the web with inane questions, stolen and outdated articles, pointless comments and other drek just to try and squeez a tiny fraction of link juice at a time. They are totally destroying the value of the forums and poisoning the user experience of many legit visitors.

Everybody seems to agree that Google doesn't approve of link buying or selling, yet every second person here is selling directory submissions, blog comments, forum comments etc. Is that not selling links? I would rather buy a link in the content of a well respected site (ooooh - that's black hat...) than pay somebody to post crappy comments on blogs and forums all over the web.

On a final note - if I did have a technique to generate unlimited inbounds from edus and govs, would I use it to propel my sites to the top of the SERPs and make a load of money, or would I post it here for free for everybody and his dog to abuse?

A little common sense goes a long way....

Huh? Not sure what you're asking, but if you're talking about link purchasing what do you think?? A quality one way link frm the home page of a highly ranked authority site is gold! I would rather spend a couple of hundred dollars buying one such link, than spend $50 (or whatever) to have some moron dump my link in worthless asshole comments on thousands of blogs and forums.

And when I say "buy" - I don't always mean spending money. If there is a related site that will really benefit you to get a link from, offer them a free site rebuild, free graphics, free onsite SEO - whatever you have to offer. bartering time and skillz for links kicks ass!
