On my adsense I have about 10k impressions so far this month from an unknown source. I really cant think what it is. Is there any way to trace it?

Why don't you use daily stats from your server? An alternative i use is statcounter and i am very satisfied (it is free)

I do use channels for all my sites thats why I find it strange. It also made me like $20 this month. I have a possible theory for it. I think a template which I released to some site like openwebdesign.org might have google ads on it therefore it could be that. Is that against adsense t&c?

If you don't use channels in order to monitorize your adsense impressions and clicks, it is possible somebody else to steal your PUB number and put it on his website trying to have illegal actions and your account to get closed. So, i suggest you using channels and if additional impressions, report to google adsense team.

I dont want to track the visitors to my site. I know the stats to my sites. The problem is that its not from my main sites or ones I can think of.

Sorry just realised the title is misleading. Its not an unknown source of traffic, its and unknown source of adsense revenue.

Have you stats program on your control panel ? Maybe awstats.

If that situation make you anxious, use different statistic program and see what's happened.

Sign up for Google analytics and track all your visitors and referrals.
You'll find out what is the source that sends you so much traffic.

You definitely need to install some tracking software, have you tried AWStats?

Lol... no seriously, go to your registrar and look at what domains you own, and add all of those to channels. If they're all there then that template idea might be right. Otherwise some random person is using your pub-id.

Yeah I added a tracker for the template sites url. Will that work to track it? I assume so. If so is that against google TOS to have ads on that?

I think the template could be the culprit...In fact I have been getting unkown impressions and I created a couple wordpress templates for my friends and I think I forgot to remove my code in the footer...

should I tell them.....wait...how the hell can these new blogs be getting all those impressions?? I must be doing something wrong

Yeah I think that the free templates are the only explanation.

With only 200 channels for tracking, once you surpass that number of URLs, you can expect revenue from unknown sources. So that's not a problem.

But two pub accounts on one page might be.
