Good guess. I'd be surprised if it was the actual school's main website. Using student pages that ends in .edu is one way a few link builders get that coveted .edu linkback. Another is to focus on 'low end' barely accredited schools that have .edu

frankly, i really hate it when those students use the term .edu link when in reality it is just a subpage and NOT even link from the main page to their page.

    It just plain tricky.

I'd be surprise if .edu really started selling links. What would it be? University of SEO? LOL

It says it is a lifetime link and then says it will be up a minimum of 5 years. I am guessing this is from a freshman and based upon their spelling skills they already made the assumption they will never graduate in 4 years.

Heck this might have excellent PR by the time this one graduates ;-)

I guess they are working thier way to 8 years of uni.

The more these students catch on that .edu is a benefit to marketers,
we're going to see a lot more of this.

Hey, even the caretaker can get a little on the side:)

However, it is more than likely against their TOS (I know it is at my school) to sell text links or use the University website / hosting for profit.

Agreed. But they never go and check their thousands of students hompages. People are taking advantage of that..
