Universal Healthcare - Where you getting the $$ from?

If you want the government to cure your ailments and be there for you when you are sick, where's all the money for this gonna come? Do you realize taxes will have to be raised somewhere along the line at a rather dramatic rate?

And what about the people like myself who have had a pretty severe medical problem and pharmaceuticals and medical advise only worsened the problem? Will throwing taxpayers' money at the problem really help? Waiting 6 months for an appointment, have you thought about that at all?

Have any of you who support this put this into account or are you still donating for an allopathic cure for AIDS?

I just want to hear what the other side has to say.

raise taxes...that is the dems answer to everything...or if you are hillary, you want to "take those oil profits" and use that how you want them to to be used....Socialism and Communism 101 folks.

We can't manage medicare and medicaid...how the heck are we supposed to manage national healthcare?

I say get rid of the trial lawyers and the problem is solved...John Edwards is one to thank for the state we are in...mr. ambulance chaser himself.

I agree with both of you that free healthcare just isn't possible at the moment, especially if we want to continue to keep the quality of our healthcare up.

While I can agree to an extent I can not agree on the unintelligent and totally wrong 'the libs/dems only spend' afterall the repubs don't do so well either. FFS stop the repetitive blame game, makes your argument look so weak I could piss through it.

What one says and what one does are often 2 different things in politics.

Didn't Bush run on 'no nation building' for one? ;)

No doubt. For all of the lib vs. conservative rhetoric, Clinton was a much better fiscal conservative than Bush.

But we need to make money not from the American people, so we need to run ads on our foreign policy and international trade pages. :D

I can see it now, the next neocon war.

The War on Search Rankings. The war will be paid with Adsense. They will greet us on Facebook. We will be welcomed as Social Marketers.

Universal Healthcare is a good idea. In order to implement it the country will first need to train more doctors and open more medical schools. A system of cheaper healthcare will make the country more productive and lower the costs to produce goods and servcies in the US.

Unfortunately, no large country has successsfully implemented Universal Healthcare... Canada couldn't succeed and UK has its Universal Healthcare in shambles. Socialist models do not work in inflationary economies.

Such models may work in Japan, Germany and Netherlands, because these are rich countries.

Could you provide some links to show that Canada's system didn't succeed and the UK's system is in shambles?

Please enlighten me about socialist models, and how you know what works and what doesn't.

Well using public money with the same system that we have now won't work.

You need to take it one step at a time. Attorneys are making billions of dollars from malpractice lawsuits and the whole system needs to be reformed.

Another issue is that a private person is charged double the price that a HMO is charged. The HMO is able to negociate discounts and the private guy is overcharged.

There are also thousands of dollars in surcharges that states add onto bills to cover the uninsured.

The US has an employer based system of healthcare. That's why you are seeing so many companies moving offshore or using illegal aliens.

You already spend money on medical insurance don't you? That money could be used for a public healthcare system. Or you could start spending less money on the military.

help what? Help you? Yes. Help society in general by keeping it's members healthy? Yes

where did you get that from? It would be great if you could find some sources for waiting times in europe and usa

As a self employed tax payer I pay alot into health care, unfortunately my family does not see a dime of that in coverage for health care. Many who do are illegal aliens, many others are people who abuse the system, and a small fraction are people who actually do need help.

I'm confused. Are you talking about your insurance? Because if you're talking about private health insurance the money go into the insurance companies owners pockets not to illegal imigrants

Another thing is that millions of Public employees are provided health care at the taxpayer expense.
