The rise in prices has a lot to do with monetary inflation. Which isn't good at all.

One has to be able to look further than the end of their nose or the corner of their street.

Please stop flattering yourself man, you're not that special, you just happened to speak nonsense and I happened to call you on it. I will knock sense on anyone in here not just you. Sorry to disappoint you. You want me to stop, than stop speaking nonsense and you will not hear from me. Now back on topic, did you look at where your appliances in your kitchen are made? Now you can apologize! ... so stop pretending to be holier than thou and accept reality that even though in lalaland you would like to believe one thing it is actually the other.

Again you keep going off topic. We were talking about Chinese made goods that have taken over your kitchen and you went off on some personal BS! Now get back on topic and stop the mambo jumbo. Stop being so arrogant as you have nothing to be arrogant about! Most of the shite in your kitchen is made in China yet you keep coming here touting your horn that you do not consume Chinese made goods, which as I said previously is BS! This has nothing to do with whatever language I speak...get it? ;) Now go back to shoveling snow in your Chinese made snow blower. :)

WARNING. EXTREME BEAR-ISHNESS GLOOM AND DOOM AHEAD!

Ok, I have serious respect for John Williams' "Shadow Stats" based on the people I know who use them.

    So I came across this,

    http://www.kitco.com/ind/Ruff/ruff_apr212008.html
(click at your own discretion, extremely negative and bearish).

Food for thought. I'm off to ebay to look for more junk silver.

    FYI, here is the topic:

"United States Heading towards a Depression?"

I kinda highlighted it for you to make it easier to read. It's the title of the thread if that helps.

Seems to me your China fetish is what is off topic. I don't own a snow blower.

My neighbor has one, and the engine and other parts are made about 35 miles from us. No, we are no where near China or Albania if that helps.

Please go bother someone else. You bore me.

Back on topic, I read over the weekend that the dollar has likely finally bottomed out and can go no where but up. Now if the fed will just raise interest rates the housing market will likely rebound sooner than anticipated.

Still no signs of a depression, or even recession... Looks like this was just an economic slow down brought on by the housing crunch/sub prime mess.

What you fail to get through your thick skull is that China IS directly connected to the current economical situation of this country, in turn connected to the thread title. It is because most manufacturing jobs have been sent to China which has lowered US wages and eliminated millions of jobs...that is a contributing factor. It is you who bores everybody here with your nonsense. Why don't you take Gtech to lunch or something and leave the real issues to adults.

Guru, I just ignore most of what Mia posts now. He's shown a lack of interest in understanding micro or macro economics. As long as he's going to stick to conservative talk radio rhetoric, the conversation can't advance.

No kidding, he is more interested and obsessed with Albania or touting his BS personal situation than tackling the real and realistic issues. I'll put him on ignore right next to will.spencer and Gtech and a couple of others. This forum is too much too full of arrogant, ignorant posters, I might just take a break for a while and go to the beach.

The irony here is that it was a unionized over payed work force coupled with a ignorant consumer that wanted lower cost goods that has driven manufacturing jobs over seas.

Essentially the same people complaining about the loss of jobs are the same people that want to pay less for goods, all the while get paid more for producing them.

Anyone see something wrong with this picture? Anyone? Bueller.... Bueller

No, you don't... Every time I post you come close to popping a nut. It is evident in your posts that intelligent conversation and reason tends to aggravate you.

I don't subscribe to the same school of pessimism and doom/gloom as you. Why on earth you and certain Albanians go off half cocked is beyond me. Its just an internet forum. You two kids are going to give yourself a heart attack if you keep this type of behavior up.

Not only do you two continually take every P/R post off topic, but you do it while bashing people you disagree with. AC used to pull that type of goofy diversionary tactic and all it got him was a permanent ban.

You are correct though, there are a lot of arrogant/ignorant posters here.

You too are full of so much anger and hatred that you have completely lost touch with reality.

Seems to me this thread has became nothing but a place to bounce off topic attacks. Since its only you two going back and forth lately, it is quite evident that those that were here for an actual discussion have likely lost interest thanks to the foul taste introduced on a regular basis.

Please, someone get this thread on topic...

That is just wishful thinking. There is no fundamental reason for the dollar to go up. Other nations aren't cutting interest rates, but the Federal Reserve is expected to keep cutting at least another 25. In fact, even if the Fed did stop cutting right now, we could expect the dollar to continue to fall over the next five months just from the cuts its already done. Figure it takes six months for Federal Reserve policy to make its full effect on the market. The recent $300 billion cash infusion and 2-3% interest rate drop hasn't even been fully priced into the dollar yet.

I'd love to hear how higher interest rates could help housing.

1% GDP growth, will you believe them when they say inflation was 0%? If we're lucky, its a recession. If we're not, the government will be nationalizing the banks or forgiving their loans.

But politics is all about looking good - ain't that right Obama?

It might be but I cannot say in the definite what good looking is, however because of my support I am able to say that America needs change

    And that means?

We all have dreams, and I am here to bring change for those dreams.

Wait. This is totally not what I asked. I asked... oh for f**ks sake nevermind.

For too long we haven't been able to enact change, and I plan to do so

    ...how?

How you say? How not I say, because we all know that right now there is no change and no solid formation. Health care, social security, and Medicare. Roads. I am the future, and I bring with me change!

...wait... you did not say how.

I think I have said enough. The people know my positions. Vote for me and I can guarantee there will be change. Change is change and change. Change change change change change.

Err... but you have yet to say how.

Bob Dole likes Bob Dole. Bob Dole has a pencil. Bob Dole wants a Pizza. Vote for Bob Dole.

    Go away Bob.

Doesn't anyone get that same Bob Dole is Bob Dole feeling about Obama? Pounding the same points, but never really saying how change will come about?

Rich Dad is mostly right, but he's repeating the stuff that power investors like Jim Rogers and Peter Schiff have been talking about for years.

It's a little late right now to get into Gold or Silver. A good time might have been two years ago.

Re: The FED, you won't find too many fans on here. I think most of us understand or accept that the FED is relatively powerless to act.

If you appreciate and agree with the perspective he's presented, you might want to look into Austrian Economics, and the Austrian Business Cycle (ABC) Theory. In a soft form, that's sort of what he is talking about.

Btw, some Aussie keeps spamming his comments. ;) :D

Well he commented on my blog, so I had to return the favor - think I got a bit carried away. I bet the page rank of his blog takes right off though - you might want to drop a comment or two your self.

As for the fed its painted itself into a corner as he points out. I think Richdad's obviously reads alot of experts and translates that information well into the language of the average man - and no I don't think its too late to get into gold or silver - there will still be money to be made there - perhaps Gold stocks so you continue to have an income produced.
