That's actually excellent logic Mia. Who cares if massive banks are in solvency crisis, your volume and quality of junk mail is the real economic indicator!

    :D

Pessimism is bad for your health.

Thank God for single syllable words, else Ferret would never be about to join in the discussion.

Thats the problem with the neoconservative thinktank, if very small samples of a general populace are doing well then this must be the case for everyone else. Apparently small samples refute larger ones.

    Case in point:
Global warming "Well it was 20 degrees in January"
Credit crunch "I still get offers..."
the war "It could be worse, what would Al Gore do?"
Real estate "Houses down the street are still sold for near their peak"

You've completely thrown out all statistical information and substituted it with your own little bubble. While things may be great in la-la land, they aren't around the rest of the world. Your day to day does not immediately throw out a sampling of a number of people.

Delusion is dangerous to your prosperity.

I did just have a good brainstorm though. There are loads of pessimistic financial newsletters available out there, competing for the pessimistic crowd.

But who is serving the optimistic crowd? It could be you Mia. All you need to do is keep track of your junk mail, and then spin negative news stories positive. This could turn into a massive mailing list you will be able to milk revenue from for years to come.

Think about it. A sucker is born every minute. Who cares if you make any sense or not? There are other people out there who feel like you do, you could be profiting from the that group.

The only depression online is when you don't get your fair share of the traffic!

It always amazes me how many people mistake spin for another opinion..

I guess that's why so many hate that there Fox News... As I understand it, they explore every opinion, not just one...

This pessimism is going to shorten your life... It's already made you quite unhappy.

Ah, lighten up. I already get that you won't believe times are tough until you are standing on the side of the road, wearing nothing but a barrel.

Oh really? And which of their shows investigates and is critical of the executive branch? Which one features the Democrat perspective of withdrawal from Iraq?

Apparently you did not read the NYT piece I linked re: Psyops. Fox and others have been collaborating with the Pentagon to spin the war to the people. I don't call that, "fair and balanced". I call it "malicious and manipulative".

Are you kidding me? I must have spent 15 minutes laughing at AC on his forum as he argued with you, debunked and Nintendo.

The US is producing grain and rice at record levels. The exports are great for America. Low world stocks are what is driving up prices.

That is good for USA on the whole if not for the currency debasement, I think this is really good money. Should negotiate with Iran and Saudi say that your grain and rice are undevalued :)

There seems to be three opinions of the economy

    • conservatives who say we're screwed 'cuz we spent too much
    • liberals who say we're screwed cuz we haven't spent enough
    • and conservatives who think the economy is great and any suggestion of the contrary is just because the media just hates bush

The first one actually has pretty good traffic for adsense, and that's probably the smallest group of all.

I think you stumbled on a great $$$-making project, but I just don't have the creative ability to spin these reports as a good sign for the health of our economy.

People's impressions of the economy probably relate very closely to their own financial situation, wouldn't you think?

Yeah, and I've never been a mailing list guy. IMO, that's where the real money is. Not in PPC traffic.

I dunno, I think it may have more to do with expectation and willingness to adapt.

Some people I've spoken to are starting vegetable gardens to keep the family fed, but at the same moment they deny deny deny that anything is wrong with the economy (go Bush!) Certain adaptations are in themselves admissions of economic contraction...

Doom & gloom conservatives say this won't be enough, the excess is institutional. The unsustainable levels of waste are at the public policy level.

Yeah but the government has regulated it to death. Now the risk you run by sending a commercial email is absurd (and it obviously hasn't stopped spamming)
