I guess when a rape me in the ass bank like Citi lays off 9000, it's a pretty good indication that someone is tightening the reigns the best way they now how; payroll.

rotflmao. I know exactly what you are thinking.

    The Depression hasn't started yet.

Yeah, but the Dow went up. Who cares if we're all unemployed, the Dow is on the way to 20k!

Really though, the only way they can tighten the reigns is to lay off people. They can't afford to touch their management renumeration.

Nor has a recession. A slowdown? Yes.. certainly.

The stock market has never been a good economic indicator for much of anything. In any event it loses 2% gains 2%.. One step back, one step forward. Hardly a huge uphill climb.

The best way to tighten the reigns is for the fed to let the ones that are in trouble collapse.

Abolish the fed. Then that will happen.

    I was being facetious.

But they won't do that. They are unelected bureaucrats, and in some cases, appointed by the banks themselves.

Nice when JP Morgan can appoint the men who make the decision to help buy up Bear Stearns, isn't it?

Expecting the government or banks to reign themselves in, is like expecting heroin addicts to quit cold turkey.

We are not even in a recession yet, why worry about a depression?

Man you are preachin' to the crowd, or at least to me. Do I make a crowd? Maybe.

I must quote myself on this ridiculous "recession" talk.

If we shut our eyes and plug our ears with our fingers and tell ourselves everything is alright, then it is alright. Do it, especially while driving.

It is a slowdown, recession indicators are normally lagging indicators, you will not be able to tell now. So officially the recession is not in yet. We need the the consecutive contraction of GDP for a recession. So technically it is right to say we are not in a recession yet.

    Whatever.

Story Time: I had a friend when I was a youngling, and I one time during the winter I said, "it is freezing out here man", and he would reply, "no it isn't, it is only 34 degrees out". I gave him the "finger", kicked him, and never talked to him again.

I think within the next couple of years the United States dollar will be destroyed and replaced by the "Amero", the new replacement currency designed to "save" the U.S. economy which currently has an impossible debt to person ratio - the country is effectively bankrupt.

The "investors" will need a new currency and the Amero will be the answer, The currency of the North American Union.

Shortly we will see a serious reduction in the number of currencies out there - with the African Union no doubt to have its single currency and the Asian Union to have its own single currency (I think Australia and New Zealand for cultural reasons will go with the "Amero".

The advantage to the international bankers - fewer currencies means more control for them - the less that annoying "Peoples" governments can have a say in economics - leave that to the bankers.

A Depression is coming the likes of which the world has never seen. The answer previously was have a good old war - the next answer if you want to avoid that - create a new currency.

Why bother to continue to attack the U.S. constitution - just bypass it by making the U.S. Federal government has no real power over money.

We could be debt free in a few years if the government issued debt-free government notes instead of bonds.

You mean like Ab Lincoln had to do during the civil war because the bankers wanted to lend him money at 24% - 36% interest.

We all know what happened to Uncle Ab.

You don't like fiat currency? Geez, it's not like the use of fiat money has a bad track record or anything ;)

Guess there is not much choice, the pound, the green back and all currencies are all fiat currency. Gold standard was already gone, correct me if I am wrong, there is no currency back by gold nowadays.

Good point. I don't really know of any currencies that are backed by anything. Surely there could be some out there, but I don't know of any.

The bankers have done a real good job of creating their little "central banks" all over the place.

If only we could change the name of the Federal Reserve to something like, "Totally not Federal bank with no reserve and created at the behest of international bankers dispite the strong warnings from the founding fathers against such a thing."

Then maybe people would wake up and start asking questions. I bet if you asked 10 people on the street, over half would tell you the dollar is backed by something, the federal reserve is a true government agency, and that the fed actually has some sort of reserve.

    You're so crazy, its awesome.

Great post. African Union currency is going to be called (no lie) the AFRO.

I bet if you asked 10 people on the street, half couldn't even identify the Federal Reserve.

The education is improving. You couldn't find this discussion on this forum a year ago. If we keep spreading the truth, maybe next election cycle monetary policy will be important, particularly if the economy is in one of smatts' "not a recession, recession" :D

The education is really improving. Yesterday I met a guy at my local coffee shop. He had just lost his job as a mortgage broker, go figure. He was in his late 60s and without any sort of prompt he was talking about the fed, fiat economy, globilzation, and national sovereignty.

Apparently, his son had recently told him the truth about the federal reserve and he started to look things up online for himself. So in a matter of months he went from being one of the fat and happy sheeple to becoming a thinking person asking the right questions about his government.

People are really starting to wake up to what is going on.
