I think most people suspected those loans were as big as they were, but the release of this information right now is stunning. If people weren't pissed off before, they sure as hell will be now.

No. I think things work different here. 2007 we elected Kevin Rudd but 12 months into it, Kevin Rudd wanted to bring in a mining tax...so...the right-wing miners here organised a coup and booted Kevvy from his rightful spot as leader. Julia Gillard stole it off him. She was not voted by the people, she was 'placed' there by miners. 2011 election we ended up in hung parliament and Gillard struck a deal with Greens to keep it. So, we're stuck with a right-wing labor government or a right-wing opposition. Only choice left for lefties like me is Green.

So, with that explanation "the right-wing has currently kidnapped our government", like I said.

Well if we didn't have a right-wing government atm, there might have been a chance but no point holding anything whilst the right have control, you'll get nowhere fast.

LoL. OK, take me through it like I'm a two year old. You say:

I ask if you saying Australia is not a Democracy, and you say:

Now when I hear your choices are "right wing labor" vs "right wing opposition", I ask myself, how does a government where 90% of the people are lefties who want open immigration wind up with representative party choices that are both right wing? Again, is Australia a democracy, or is it not?

And to your statement, "Jula Gillard stole it off him. She was not voted by the people, she was 'placed' there by miners." I ask was Kevin Ruddd voted into his position by the people, or did he get his seat by means of a parliamentary vote? If he got his seat by parliamentary vote, and lost it by the same mechanism(to be honest, he resigned), how can you say she stole it from him?

I also got a bit of a chuckle when I read this:
Here is your liberal champion denying 80% of all illegal immigrants the chance to even plea for refugee status. And what do you do with the other 20%? Oh yah, you incarcerate them!

Truth be told, one doesn't have to read too much about this guy to understand why he is the first prime minister in Australian history to be removed from office by his own party in his first term. The guy rises to power within his party on promises of fiscal conservatism, and then governs by ending detention of boat people and mandating a 60% reduction in greenhouse gas. Either that, or the Australian people agreed with what they read from your heroes at Wikileaks:

The Administration took the necessary steps to prevent the Republican Recession 07-09 from morphing into a Depression and in June 09 due partly to the above actions by the Fed. Reserve returned GDP to a positive growth that is maintained to this quarter.

The actions taken above were extreme but necessary under the prevailing circumstances.

It is the irrational policies and principles of those who now control the Congressional House and Senate Republicans that have again placed the economy in a position of negative growth and the possibility of a renewed recession.

As in: 10% of the population are very loud. They are a minority (minority would have been capitals but didn't want to scare the 2yo). Now, on the opposite side, 10% of the population are as loud as me, arguing the opposite (they are also a minority).

Then you have the 50% sheep, who don't give a toss either way and will do exactly what the press (read Murdoch) tells them to do. He tells them how they're thinking (by running his own polls) and the people simply believe it.

Then you have the other 30% who care enough to voice their concern but not enough to actually do anything about it. Maybe they might show up at a rally once or twice but latte seems to be more enjoyable to this type of voter.

Now you can't say you don't know how governent works. Campaigns are mostly financed by big business (behind the scenes). Whilst there is a puppet out front to blame, they plan and scheme in background and it's the 'faceless few' that make the real decisions. Here, the faceless few of the Labor party are in the hands of the miners, even though they're 83% owned by overseas corps. Yet these mining "friends" of ours are avoiding buying our steel now because "it's too expensive". Today they just sacked another 1,000 people.

Kevin Rudd leans centre-left and the right-wing didn't want him there. He was too good for the people (at the expense of big business) so they made up their mind he had to go. Eighteen months into his 4 year term, he's doing fantastic for the country (imho), the right-wing of the Labor party chucks him out and installed a new (now unelected by the people) leader, one that leans to the hard right even though we just chucked out the last hard-right government on their ass, this doesn't seem to have mattered.

Australians are asking that too. It will come out. It has upset a lot of people. She is polling the worst ever and The Greens are doing better than ever (now at 14% levels which isn't great but compared to around 4% just 8 years ago, it's definately heading in the right direction for me.

Now, to top that off, our war criminal John Howard (yeah Bushes mate still), ended up being the most hated man in Australia because of that Iraq war. He was chucked out of office and even his local electorate booted him out so there was no way he was getting back in. He and his band of cronies took us all to places we never wanted in the first place.

Now, once Howard was booted out they elected a bloke called Malcolm Turnbull as the opposition leader (he's a centrist), he started talking about an emissions trading scheme and in came a few of Howard's hated henchmen (that's the HHH for short) and they got rid of Turnbull. Abbott was never elected, and never will be. Howard's henchmen were in office for a long time and know all the lurks and perks. Nobody wants any of them (except the party faithful). Every one of them is in it for themselves and are dragging it out to milk as much out of it whilst they can. Evil beings to the core.

Kevin was absolutely voted in by the majority of Australians. Here, you vote for a party. Whilst John Howard (your mate George Bushes best buddy) is chucked out on his "Liberall" ass, Kevin Rudd was the leader of the Labor party. The people voted for him. He won the election. We voted for him. Then once he talked about a mining tax, the wheels were put in motion to get rid of him.

It's the first-time ever a first-term prime minister has been removed in this fashion.

It was stolen, no other words to describe it. By whom exactly, well even i'm still digging for that as most of us think Julia is simply a puppet for her makers.

So far my conspiracy theory involves the American right-wing, who have infiltrated into every country on earth so it wouldn't be too far-fetched seeing all those Wikileaks cables to say some powerful Americans have their hands in our election outcomes. Senator Mark Arbib for one (Labor party president) was criticized for being a spy for the US and seems to have versed the CIA on everything that was going to happen, before it happened! And then come the miners. That McCallum article you posted made big news here at the time. It points to the fact that the USA was heavily into politicking against the Ruddster and that almost instantly led to him being ousted.

Whilst I agree it may sound far fetched, there's a lot to come through yet. FTR: I'd rather be infiltrated by USA than KGB. :) but given a choice I'd prefer it be Australia running Australia for Australians without any outside interference.

Its politics, he's learnt he has to appease his colleagues (notice I didn't say mates).

You are an interesting cat Bushranger. I can't even fathom the mindset of a guy who thinks his political party, with 14% of the population somehow represents 90% of the people. Seems that if 90% of the population shared your views, they would belong to your party.

Never fear, the liberals in this country think exactly the same way. AT 30% of the population, they think they represent the majority as well, though in the case of the US, it seems to be more truthful than your untenable position.

Perhaps this will cheer you up. The 40% "Super Profits" mining tax Rudd failed to implement is a mirror of our Federal corporate tax rate which is...... 40%. If you really want to get your super profits taxes implemented, you need to do what the liberals in this country have done. Simply whore yourself out to the corporations, creating loopholes that will allow them to pay an effective tax rate of 0%, while at the same time changing the official tax rate to 40%.

Better still, keep expanding your social programs little by little until the general populous is so hooked on your handouts, they will vote with you just to preserve them. In no time at all, I'm sure you can transform Australia from the one western nation that didn't go into recession during the worldwide financial crisis, into a nation enslaved by debt. I have no doubt that with enough political pressure, you can transform Australia's sterling 20% debt to GDP ratio, into something closer to 100% like ours.

    Good luck.

BTW, your willingness to support an Anti-gay marriage candidate like Rudd doesn't speak well to your values. I'm just sayin.

LoL! - nice try - there's hasn't been one party in power that is for gay marriage in this country. FTR: I vote Green, who are the only party for it, though personally I'm not in favour of gay marriage....not that your comment was even slightly relevant imho. You comparing me to gay marriage would be like me comparing you to a terrorist. You don't follow ALL their ideals do you?

As for the rest of your comments, i'm not saying 90% are lefties, though it's certainly much more than 50% going by the last 2 elections we had. It seems even when you chuck out the right-wing with a vengeance you still can't get rid of the termites, they've burrowed a deep hole for themselves and will use every trick to retain power, against the wishes of the people it serves.

Try turning my words around as much as you like. I'm not dependent on governmennt handouts, though I was earlier in my life. I used that as a spring board and bettered my own life doing stuff I liked to do. Now I pay back the government ten times what it gave me.

Whilst I do agree some take advantage, because they aren't as clever as you, I believe most of us (the ones that don't take advantage) people are being shafted into paying too much for too much and what you call social "welfare" is not welfare at all. This country (in particular) earns money all by itself and was doing exceptional without you greedy lot demanding money for nothing and making the guy who already has nothin have even less.

You make it sound like nothing has changed and it's all okay like this but either you have no idea how it was or you are lobbying for some unknown organisation that's purposefully propagandising misinformation.

Since the "Reagonomics era" the gap between rich and poor has widened not decreased. Whatever tricks these money people did has made it harder for the average Joe to survive.

I dunno exactly how it went over there but I do know what happened here (which I believe emanated from there) so was likely a similar scenario.

War years: government owned and ran everything. In the 1980s "something" happened that made the powers that be here decide they shouldn't be supplying these services (and what a great way to fund new projects) so they started selling off our public owned assets and these now became private. We bought and paid for them out of our taxes, set up the business model out of our taxes and government sold them off so they could pay for their pork barrels and other shit we never saw.

Next they "artificially" pump up house prices on us, which means you're now a millionaire on paper so you can hock yourself up to the hilt, then of course because house prices have increased then so do all the land rates, water rates, garbage rates, and all other associated bills go up with that.

Nup. Things aren't as sweet as they used to be and that's because greed got built into the system at some point. That is where I'm pushing to return. Please note we (Australians) are happy capitalists and always were capitalists from day one - it worked fine without greed for a long time - before you go there, I am not asking for communism, just take the "fake" money out of the system and stop ripping us all of in the name of profits and that will end my main concerns, because truly I don't care whose at the helm, as long as its a good move for the people.

Comparing gay marriage to terrorism is odd..

You are gay, and you don't support gay marriage. Curious, but anyway It is comparable to someone straight not supporting the idea of marriage. There are people like that.
I don't think any kind of marriage is comparable to terrorism (Unless you are implying the stereotype that Islam = Terrorism, which would be absurd and bigotry)

PS: I'm just curious, what is the reason of you not supporting gay marriages? I'm straight, and I don't see anything wrong with it. If two consenting adults want to get married, why people need to be the moral police and tell them that they can not?

I wasn't implying it. I am saying saying i'm gay so must support gay marriage is as absurd as claiming every Islamist is a terrorist.

I'm not "for" gay marriage in the sense that the Bible created marriage as we know it. Promoting "gay marriage" or promoting "any" marriage is promoting the Bible.

I'm not against a "partnership" agreement for anybody but calling it "gay marriage" imho is hypocritical. If you're getting married for the sake of the Bible then the Bible says you shouldn't be gay. How can you have both?

FTR: You can do what you want to do as long as it won't affect me. If you really want to get "gay married" I wouldn't hold it against you lol but I would ask why.

    Not in my thoughts..
As I said, It is comparable to someone straight not supporting the idea of marriage. And that is what you do actually, you are not against Gay marriage, you are against any marriage.
Instead of saying that you are not FOR gay marriage, you should actually be saying that you are against any marriage.
The way you said it, implies that you are specifically against gay marriages.

That's even more odd and kinda ridiculous..
First of all, marriage is not exclusive to Bible or even any religion.. It's not a ritual, but a value.
What about court marriage? I'm not sure if you don't have court marriage in Australia. But here in India, we have court marriage that does not require any religious ritual. Just a few days ago a lesbian couple was married in the court.

Second, Bible says a lot of things about a lot of stuffs, some good and some bad. Do you make a point to not to follow anything said in bible? Because doing anything that happens to be said in bible will be promoting bible.

Don't know if you are confused or didn't read my post but I've already said -

Nonsense. I WILL get married, and I WILL procreate, and you WILL subsidize the rearing of my children with your tax dollars, as well as part of my spouses income, just for the fact we are married. Take that!!! and Like it!!!!!

Turning their backs against the economy to damage the Administration, the Republicans will find far less solace than they are expecting from the business community in the near future and for the 2012 elections.

Lets hope their phony Social Agenda is all they crack it up to be for them to carry the day.

No doubt.Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, its a duck.

By the time Obama's thugs in the DOJ gets through with S&P, their parent company will be lucky to maintain control over the indoctrination of our youth. Downgrade indeed. Did they have any idea who they were messing with? Some opinions are better kept to yourself.

A focus on the overall picture will be to the benefit of the Administration.

Without the Federal Reserves policies the American and world economies would be in a Depression - not something the public appreciates but after the 2010 election and the retrenchment in the economy due to Republican dysfunction the divergence gives the public a comparison between progress and reversal the politicians will be able to exploit when the opportunity presents itself.

Republicans will regret their politicizing the 2 T Debit Increase and the poor legislation they managed to bring it about.

The Administrations 4 T proposal was superior and will eventually be adopted before the 2012 elections and be supported by the Business community with the Administration against the Tea Party.

Your solution is an Economic Depression - the GDP was negative from Dec.07 to June 09, if you are not aware like Mia June 09 was when the Republican Recession came to an end and GDP has been positive to this Quarter.

The Administration was for a 4.1 Trillion dollar savings / revenue package to begin lowering the debt - the Republican House passed legislation does nothing to reverse the trend.

The Democrats were the last to balance the budget and begin paying down the deficit and will begin the process again with the reelection of the present Administration.

The balance now, as stated before will be the clearing house between the two sides where the Administration policies will become more evident to the voters which side has the better solutions. The Tea Party is over.

Webby, another one who does not understand monetary policies, and fears liquidity - paper money.
