O...nation: Get a life - There was no relevance in your post to the topic in discussion: education, election results and resulting persuasions - by the example above.

wanna be Mussolinis.....disagreed with their extreme leftist agenda - Whatever that is about who knows....?

Read a book O...nation - about American Press and its progression along with most other ways of life pursuant reactionary disposition and the electoral process.

Keynesians think that consumers spending themselves deeper into debt is a good thing.

Does anyone else see the problems with this?

Which is why I hope to have the Bunker of my Dreams built soon.

And no you're not welcome! Get your own bunker!

If turtling up in a bunker was an effective strategy, N. Korea would be the most successful nation on the planet. The problems out there are real and need attention.

Wow.... look at the DJIA plummet... 294 points down right now.

Sometimes you need to focus on your own family. The American people voted for this change and they deserve every bit of it.

We are only three years into our lost decade. We could put it in a positive light and say, "We might be as much as 30% of the way through it!"

Sorry, I wasn't trying to imply having a bunker isn't a good idea for a last resort, assuming your bunker has its own water source, air scrubbers, and garden :D. I'd prefer to focus on getting rid of the people in our gubment who think new taxes and regulations are the best way to fix gluttonous government spending and cronie capitalism. BP may be broken, but not as broken as the agency and by extension the government that allowed them to bypass all the rules. Certainly not as broken as the gubment that is using the rules they allowed to be broken as a political football to kill off oil production in America.

I would agree with that, if I didn't currently have to live with them.

I just not as optimistic as you. I'm thinking that the situation is so bad, even a bunker will be almost useless. Back in Colorado, we were stocked up pretty well for anything short of TEOTWAWKI and we dumped almost all of our gear in exchange for some distance from the explosion.

To my way of thinking, Obama isn't the problem, he's just another symptom. I don't think it's 1776; I think that we're a lot of years from 1776 -- but I do think we're on course towards it. The trouble is, I don't think this course is changeable. People won't learn until they are motivated by a lot of pain, and that kind of pain takes decades to sink in. I think we might see a revolution in twenty or fifty years, but I'm not sure I'll live to see it. Short of a revolution, I don't foresee significant improvement in American governance.

You can delay the revolution by supporting less-bad politicians, but I'm not even sure that is a good idea. This tree is nothing but dead wood on the inside. It's not salvageable. It's time to plant a new tree.

It's a big world. A bunch of us are moving overseas to regroup and prepare.

"Signs of a global slowdown slam stocks. Dow finishes down more than 260 points. Nasdaq drops 4%, S&P falls 3%."

All indications are Depression is on the way.

    Depressions can be very profitable:
    • You can hire people cheap. This is a great time to invest in long-term R&D.
    • You can buy stuff cheap -- like entire companies.
    • Unemployed people spend more (borrowed) money on education. That's a great market niche right now.
    • Other niches which improve during a depression are pay day loans and pawn shops.
    • The government is giving away money like there's no tomorrow. If you have the right contacts in the government, you can pull a lot of taxpayer dollars towards yourself.
    • Shorting stock -- high risk; high reward.

Basically, depressions can be awesome if you have a lot of cash. Depressions are great for rich people... which may be why George Soros invested all that money in Obama's election...

We're passing 75% of GDP of debt kiddo. Once it moves past 100% like it did the last time we had a depression, give me a call and we'll see if you can afford to party.

Been there done that for most of the last decade. I still own property abroad, and have a few anchor babies:D, so I'm GTG when the sh*t hits the fan. Unfortunately, if things get really bad in the US, there will be very few spots on the planet to hide from it. More than likely, you would see a couple nuclear exchanges.

I'll admit trying to fix the political problems in the US feels a bit like polishing the silver on the Titanic. When I got back here last summer, I was amazed at the how bad things had gotten. The anger level is palpable. At the back of my head the reality of just how fragile the whole thing really is gnaws at me. How many times can the government pay out 700 billion in taxpayer dollars to special interests while spitting in the face of the American people by telling us it helped save the economy? You say 25-50 years, but IMO, a couple more payolas like that coupled with the Dow hitting 7k again (which I suspect it will) and you may well see things heat up a whole lot sooner.

Are you sure there is enough burger kings to hire all of you?

I thought you were preparing for revolution with other crazies in some forest in the weekends or was that before you discover the government actually can shoot back and they don´t use paint ball guns and you decided to put your tail between your legs and run away to the "democratic" country of Singapore.

Wouldn't want to put you out of a job :D.

Yes they do! I saw it on flotilla raid!

Well, I can't speak for Will, but I'm going to put my tail between my legs and move to Marabella. Puerto Benous is my type of place(the raves go all night). Its democratic, its socialist, its racist, sounds like a dream. I'm moving in with you!
