You should be careful with what you post, some of your less intelligent friends might believe you. After all we don´t want mia pick up his trailer and empty beer cans and try to move to Canada in search of better welfare system, just to discover it is not so. ;):D

Isn't it interesting that the usual government policy of lowering interest rates to juice the economy is completely failing and yet few people are seriously questioning the effectiveness of that strategy? It's a huge divide between theory and results that has received comparatively little attention from the fourth estate.

It is also strange that few people seem worried by the fact that 24% of American homeowners now owe more on their home loans than their homes are worth -- even though the Fed is propping up home prices by buying $1.4 Trillion dollars worth of home mortgages. This seems like some odd analogy to the bugblatter beast -- if the mass media doesn't cover it, it doesn't exist. How does that sand taste?

Managing the economy is nothing new - managing the economy by qualified and politically independent referees rather than ideologues as the immediate past is what is unique and unappreciated about the present Administration.

Being left at the precipice of another Great Depression and managing the nation into recovery mode as presently succeeding should not be the bane of those responsible for the calamity but rather the price all Americans are having to sustain in debt due to their disservice.

Managing the inflationary spiral usually accompanied by lower rates will be the next sign for full recovery everyone is anticipating and its management the perspective for the future - or if ideologues were in charge the next train wreck.

Oh, lets hope the economy does not recover and the stock market hits new lows so to vote back into office the very people responsible for the Great Recession of 08....beer talk of the deposed.

A real difference from the past to formulate a sound approach to affordable health care for all Americans - A reason for the midterms to be progressive rather than reactionary. The trend seems to be moving in a more positive direction.

There's really nothing positive about taking from those that produce and giving to those that do not want to produce.

Adding add this government bureaucracy to health care can only have one effect -- making health care more expensive for Americans. Bureaucracy ain't free and we just bought a whole lot of it.

There was never an attempt to actually make health care more affordable. The only effort made was to keep the public in the dark long enough to introduce something that legalized additional financial burden on those who have a little more money than those who cannot afford any at this time. Meanwhile the cost of medical care rises. In other words: This is not a solution. This is draining the productivity of small businesses and middle class Americans and had there been more transparency, they would have not likely been able to pass it like it is.

Health is not a limited issue for a particular group but includes all Americans equally and requires a comprehensive solution for any program to succeed. The legislation passed is the initial and necessary step to accomplish the objective.

It is disingenuous to suggest the solution will take from one to give to another when the solution to the problem is to solve the needs of each individual on their own merits as all being productive citizens of a single country.

Breeze, don't you get it? This was not about providing health care for anyone. This was about creating a false sense of dependency so people like you would continue to vote for these dults. In doing so, you never make anyone self reliant or productive.

The solution to the problem is to get government out of the way of individuals. We'll handle the productive part on our own.

Right, and it would be wiser to look into the ethics of the drug companies and their affiliation with politicians rather than simply slapping new financial obligations on the middle class IMO.

My wish would be for people to rise from where they are and be able to afford their own. Not bring down the buffer zone between the poor and the rich.

The drug and oil cartels run the show. There we need to look. Not at the fact that some of the ones who can afford their own healthcare should also be the ones paying for the ones who can't.

Corruption kills. And it's not the fault of those who do better than others, it's usually the ones all the way on the top which you may not pay any attention to.

It looks like Americans are headed for another round of being screwed by big government and big business.

Interesting blog. I'd like to see some links to the actual legislation. If the idea were to replace Social Security with something like that, I might actually be in favor of it. If they want to convert 401ks and IRAs, its time to fire some more of our representatives.

The legislation is a starting point in attempting to control the spiraling healthcare issues - the policyholders being the beneficiaries.

Everyone has health issues so everyone is involved one way or another - fine tuning the legislation to address particular needs is the objective for gov't - the profit motive of the providers is what needs regulating in preventing corruption as one aspect to the complex issue.

Which of course would be pretty unrealistic as well. Whoever regulates will get get his pocket filled and whoever is regulated is going to be happy with the regulations.
