I seen the movie who killed the electric car already.

The point is that yes there is less force, but the force is absorbed onto the smaller object. When a Ford F-150 truck slams into a ford focus are you telling me that is safer to be in a ford focus??? Come on. Bigger vehicles are built structurally more spacious so they can handle a impact with someone inside. There is a reason why small cars are called death traps. When you crash in those things they crumple up really easily.

Statistics show that more fatality rate since they been making cars smaller since the 70's due to new regulations.

And republicans. Really, anything undesirable should be taxed out of existence.

So did I. But I also realize the reality that those people paying $350/mo. for those cars would have been paying about $350,000.00/mo. for them in reality if they had really paid what it cost to develop, build and maintain them.

Until gas hits $30.00/gal, its unlikely that anyone will have any incentive, motivation or reason to build a car that actually causes more harm than good. Don't get me wrong, we'd all love to have them, but at this point in time, they are not yet practical.

I only hope Dumbama does not destroy the Vette. Its one of the HUGE money makers for GM, and we Vette drivers get DAMN good mileage. My 79 gets 17MPG with hefty beefed up 350. My buddies ZO6 gets 32MPG. Compare that to even the best of the mid-size or compact cars, or flex fuel vehicles. 520HP getting 32MPG... Insane.

I used to have a sweet, matching numbers, 365 HP, 1966 convertible red on red Vette. That was a incredible car - like a fucking rocket in a straight line. Luckily I had seat belts added, because when some fool ran a red light and crushed me, I walked away mostly fine. The car, not so much, they took my car and 14 buckets of what was my car away. It was not perfect or anything but man what a great ride.

It is one of my missions to get another one someday, although I do like having airbags in my current car.

p.s. The Vette did not get good mileage, but there are sacrifices I am willing to make ;)

No one buys them cause the do.... The new ones though... Crazy MPG ratings... Mine will get around 12 in town, and I do have a tendency to keep the pedal to the floor.

    Thats communism.

And plus like always you libbies fail at logic.

You forgot when you hit a tree, drive off a bridge or slam into some other inanimate object. A bigger vehicle will help you there.

And if you don't think thats a big deal, half of all fatalities occur when someone hits something OTHER than another vehicle.

    You Failed.

Corvettes are made out of crap material and poorly designed for safety. Which is why they get good mileage for their power. Not a good vehicle to drive for safety.

Sorry to continue this off topic, but you are completely incorrect on all accounts. It's space age material, of the highest quality. Mine is 30 years old and some of the nifty little touches are still not found in most modern automobiles.

Depression? The porn industry is even hurting. Penthouse is laying off people. What do you think the local liquor stores will do? Then again, the pay check advance places are doing very very well. Great business model if you don't have any ethics.

Keep in mind that "Penthouse" is not purely "porn". Its a media giant that owns and publishes a HUGE amount of every day, non-smut related magazines. Gotta look at the complete picture to be fair.

I'm curious, what are its safety ratings? It might be space age material but that doesn't mean anything necessarily. It just may be that so it can be leightweight.

Sports cars are very low to the ground, another reason that makes them dangerous than cars that are higher up off the ground.

How does a car being lower make it more dangerous?

They are not as light as you think.

My 79' Curb weight, pounds 3,565

As for the 09's They are about 3,350

For comparison, a 1979 Chevy Caprice (a big car) was 3564 - 3675. My 89 Z28 was lighter than both the Caprice and the Vette.

    Modern
    Safety Features

Antilock Brakes: Standard Four Wheel Antilock Brakes: Standard
Depowered Airbag: Standard Passenger Airbag: Standard
Head Airbag: Not Available Side Airbag: Optional
Child Safety Seats: Not Available Traction Control: Standard
    Stability Control: Standard

    According to Edmunds.

The 09's have not been tested by the Fed as of yet, but do include the slew of safety features above. Also given the median drivers age is 53, people that own these cars tend to be responsible and don't phuck around.

The newer Vettes have some insane traction and speed control, as well as run flat tires. They are just marvels in terms of quality and technology. The Space Age materials I am talking about are the composites in use that used to be primarily fiberglass.

If anything they are safer given the lower center of gravity.

Common sense really. Bumper and yourself are higher up off the ground. If another car sideswipes you the force of the impact will hit your legs and below which are not critical areas in an impact. Get inside a prius and have a large truck hit you and the center of the force will be dead on your internal organs and upper body area. Youll be crushed like a sardine.

Cars in general are lower to the ground then trucks. Smaller trucks are lower to the ground than Larger trucks. Lowering to the ground saves gas and increases your power by reducing air drag.
