I just read on NY times the worlds best team of soccer would be located in the states. I don't think so. I'm bloody fan of Barcelona my love (L) Ronaldinho!

By the way who is your favorite soccer player ? In the world just type one name and the team of course..

Huh? Even the yanks know that they're no good at footy ;]
The US probably has the money to become a good football country, but it's a cultural thing... football is a patient game, I can see a brilliant game which ends 0-0, Americans probably wouldn't appreciate it (like I don't care for baseball). Because of this, the US will never have the audience, and therefore the money to become a good footballing country.

Also, they'll never be able to compete in probably the biggest multi-national cup tournament, the Champions League for geographical reasons. So they'll never be able to compete against the best teams in Europe in a competitive way.

USA been playing in World Cup for last few times. They did ok, although not that great.

But USA womens soccer team been world champion several times. I used to have a job for which I had to work in lot of neighborhoods for long hours. You would be amazed seeing how many kids playing soccer here.

Just a week ago there was more then 20K people watching the LA Galaxy game.

I think in near future there would be more people upto this game.

It most definitely is a cultural thing, but I think the biggest reason why it never got popular here in the States is because the TV networks couldn't figure out how to stuff commercials into it to make it profitable to show, and this game doesn't really lend itself to TV timeouts.

Ha, yeah, being an Englishman I can hardly talk about international football right now with the state we're in. Infact, as we haven't qualified for Euro 2008, it's having a huge effect on our pub and beer industry as they're set to lose a lot business this summer.

I remember playing footy against a girl in Cuba, she was from the states and played for a team... and yes, she was much better than me.
