In the US we have the Better Business Bureau, an organization that lets you report bad business issues, and they keep it stored so other consumers can go and check up on businesses. Does the UK have something similar to this? Where can I report a faulty UK business? I have the VAT number also if that helps at all.
Well it all depends on what this company has done (or hasn't done) that will dictate who you should report it to. If you give a bit more detail about the situation, I may be able to help you more. Plus its a good "heads-up" for the rest of us at DP
Thanks for the response. It's just an issue with me paying over $200 for a script that i couldn't get to work, and got 0 support tickets answered. I finally found the admin via email and he's refusing a refund and basically challenging me to do a chargeback. (I work for my bank at a position that gives me a lot of "pull", and I'm confident the chargeback will go in my favor) But anyways, that sums it up, I'll give the website to this "company" once I get my money back.
Right. I think the first thing to do is to read through their legal documentation on the website and read over the product description. When you purchased the script, does it say anywhere that you are entitled to support in getting things running? Also, look out for the common clause about refunds when it comes to selling digital products.Since you can't return digital items, they often say that they do not give refunds. I think you really need to find out where you stand with this company before you report them or try and force a chargeback. Whilst a chargeback may seem like an easy option, it could drop you in legal bother if you try and regain money for a product you have received. If the product is not what they say is it, or the company has not fulfilled obligations which it has outlined, then you should be able to force a refund and report them to the Department of Trading Standards. If they simply sold you the script without promise of support, then you must prove the script is flawed in some way to warrant the chargeback. I understand that you don't want to post the site details here, but if you PM me the details of what you bought and from where, I'll take a closer look
