No, that's just a ballpark figure estimating yesterday's number of subscribers. Reach is much more important. The feed is being syndicated on other websites. Some people choose to integrate it into their homepage with iGoogle. My subscribers continually use the feed throughout the day and have access to your link(s) for 7 days. It's a great way for advertising and promoting your proxy as it will crop up in many different places. I have a subscriber who receives my content via his 3G Smartphone. Possibilities are endless - Matt

The 44 hits you see there will just be from the feed that is hosted at Feedburner. That doesn't take into consideration clicks from Firefox's Live Bookmarks (the bulk of our subscriptions), clicks from people's homepages, clicks from various news aggregators and direct traffic as a result of being published in the feed.
