I set up domain and hosting yesterday and now waiting for everything get ready. There is an option to have unique IP address for my site that costs $3 per month. Does it matters to search engines whether the site has it's constant IP address or dynamic? I'd like to purchase that option gladly if it's one important factor
Hi, Are you hosting on shared hosting? If so, it definitely would be a good idea to get a dedicated IP address. It isn't really Static and Dynamic IP in this case, shared hosting usually share one IP among so many sites and some of these sites could be spamming or using black hat techniques which would have an effect on your search engine rankings.
IMO it's definitely worth $2-3 more per month to have a dedicated IP. As monkey1 said, sometimes if you are using shared hosting and just happen to be sharing an IP w/ with a spammer or blackhat SEO that has lots of sites doing bad things, Google might inadvertantly penalize your site because they thought all sites on the IP are owned by the spammer/blackhat SEO. It's sort of a "guilt by association". Of course, all you have to do once you figure out that you've been penalized (which could take some time and cause you to lose money) is submit a reconsideration request. Google will review your site and lift the penalty from your site. But this could take days or weeks and is just a big hassle that could easily be avoided with a dedicated IP that only YOUR site(s) use. That way only YOU can get your sites penalized. The peace of mind is well worth the $2-3/month investment.
Thank you guys for great answers, I already requested dedicated ip. Seems it is quite important for many reasons
