Unique $20 Label Contest - Design A Simple, Yet Awesome Jar Label!

    Hey all!

For a while now, I've been making candles (fun, yet expensive hobby), and after a growing interest from family and friends encouraging me to sell them, I've decided to take the plunge and just do it.

Below are some guidelines and background on my product and how I'd like it to look.

So, what I'd like to have is a nice label for my jars - ones that stands out, yet doesn't take the attention from the candle itself.

Here is a picture of the jars I'm using.

    The jars have black lids.

Now, the name of my candle company is: Big Boy Candles

I'm not dead-set on what size I want the label to be, or whether I want it round, square, rectangle, or whatever other shape you come up with - so I'm open for ideas there.

Since the name is "Big Boy Candles", I'd like to incorporate something that looks "strong" and lean towards the masculine side. On the other hand, these jars need to be attractive to the ladies, so I don't want to scare them away with my logo - LOL!!

Last but not least, I may do a "clear" label (meaning, the label is mostly dark colors and will be printed on clear stick-on lables), but I might also do a regular white one too..I don't know.

So feel free to submit your designs, and whoever ends up winning, I'd like to be able to work with them privately in the future for more labeling/product needs. Sound good?

So, lets see what you can come up with! Best of all, when we're the top selling candle in the world, you can take credit for designing our logo/label :)

    Thanks!

Do you have a tag line? Are they soy or paraffin or something else? Do they have cotton wicks or any of that other earth-friendly/natural stuff that might have label appeal? I made them 3.375" x 2.3125" after looking at onlinelabels.com and thinking that would be a pretty good fit, but it can be changed.

@jackieh1791 - Hey again!! (we worked together last month) First let me say, WOW! I was hoping someone would understand what I'm looking for, and you have a fantastic head start. As a full time marketing monkey for a medium sized company, I can't believe I didn't provide a tagline (I have a few in mind...I'll edit my original post and add it).

As for your other questions, I use paraffin, and various wicks, but I don't do the green thing (yet) - so my candles are more like gas guzzling SUV's rather than hybrids or other eco-friendly cars...lol

I would like to see BigBoyCandles.com somewhere on the label, and I'll also post a few fragrance names to see how those look on there (I like the striped with the fragrance on it...pretty cool).

That's all for now..I'll add more as I think of it! Anyway, great entry!!!

@dzt6781 - Thanks for your entry! I really enjoy the font and layout here, very clean, yet bold and noticeable. One thing I would say to eliminate is the blue (on a website it would look great, but if I end up going with clear labels, and also with my black lids, black would be the best matching color).

Perhaps you could throw in the URL (BigBoyCandles.com) wherever you think it would look best - that would be great.

Other than that, I love the thick border and rounded corners, very nice. Not sure about the gray stripe for the fragrance name though. Maybe black, and then white letters for the fragrance name? I'm open for ideas there.

Anyway, thanks again for another great entry!

Nice to see ya again. Thanks for the feedback. Here are a few colors and added the url to the bottom. I don't see the tagline in your original post yet, but it can always be added later.

@jackie - Thanks for your revised entry, I really like the layout and presentation, definitely going to be a hard contest to pick!

@dzt6781 - Thanks for your revised entry, I really like how clean and bold it is. Very solid, thanks!

@l3fty - Hello and thanks for your entry! I absolutely LOVE the look of the fragrance name - looks amazing! Yours is another bold and clean look, and won't make this contest any easier for me!

@shadyisme - Hmmmm....I get the general idea of this entry, and I don't know if it's the blue color or what, but it seems to be a tad bit "busy". Almost too "bold". I do thank you for taking the time to enter, I just don't know if this is the look we're going for.

@mrEdesign - Wow. Just plain wow. Where do I start - the candle for the "I" in big boy is genius and looks great. I absolutely LOVE the tagline "Size does matter". Excellent. The overall layout is nearly perfect (not a huge fan of the bar code - could you take that out and put a little space inbetween the tagline, size, and URL? (Would like the URL at the bottom of course). This entry captures the essence of our brand VERY well, and will be a hard one to beat! Anxiously awaiting your revision.

@l3fty - Is this second entry a revised version of the first? I'm still half asleep so I can't see the difference between the two at the moment - could you point them out to me?

Thanks to everyone so far....AMAZING work from all of you!

Thanks for the last entry, dhamaka, it's very attractive, just not quite the style we're going for. Great work, though.

    WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT!

After taking quite some time to review the entries received for this contest, we finally decided on a winner, so congratulations to mrEdesign! He captured the essence of the look we were hoping for, and we're very happy with the outcome.

To everyone else, we can't thank you enough for taking your time and submitting an entry. There is certainly a bunch of talent here and if it were possible, I would have picked you all as winners! Good stuff!

Thanks and have a great day!
