    Hello,

I am currently a student at Reading University UK starting my 3rd year project. My project is to design and build a search engine optimization tool.

I am posting here to request people to give me ideas of what things they would like to be included to make the tool really useful. Could be anything, it does not matter how small. I am trying to make an all in one tool that can be helpful to everyone.

    Thanks

    David

Heres a tool that would be usefull to me for keyword research.

Pull and display searches per day from (wordtracker, overture, and keyword discovery if possible).

Pull and display the google trends graph for that keyword.

Pull and display the allinanchor:keyword intitle:keyword inurl:keyword results from MSN, Google, Yahoo

Pull and display the top 10 results for that keyword in Yahoo, MSN, and Google and display their backlinks

    Thats about it. :)

Thanks for the reply, all the things listed seem good apart from the use of word tracker and keyword discovery as these services require payment and don't look like they would allow a script to use them. Though, I will look into it.

Are there any more suggestions from anyone?

    Thanks

    Hi Dave,

it's december now, so you probably have already made up your mind for your project, but if you are still flexible, here is my suggestion:

A tool that i can use to import a huge list of urls which are my competitors (which i would have researched from elsewhere) and then for this tool to get me all of their backlinks into a sort of hub of results using msn, yahoo and google or others and then when it is done to list the sites which back link the most i.e. the site that links to nearly all of your competitors at the top right down to the bottom with the ones that only link to one competitor. And hopefully if it can do it over night or in the background, this would be a God send!!!!

I know Aaron has something like this, on his site with free open source code so could be a helpful starter if you visit seobook.com and go to tools and look for link hub, except i find it only does 10 sites at a time and you have to be online always pressing the submission button and analysing the first set of results before submitting another 10, if a God send could come up with an overnight one, that would be amazing! You could probably make good dosh as well, as anything that saves time. (also suggest visiting kartoo.com, slightly misfiring in exactly what i am suggesting but ideas and concepts could juggle your brain a little)

In any case sir, best of luck with your project and sure hope you get a 1st class in it! Lots of gurus here to help you.
