Unexpensive Web Hosting?

would any of you guys have suggestions on a good web host at a great value?

I am not looking for something huge. I am not expecting at this point to get 100,000 hits a day. I am just looking for a site where I can decently host an average sized web site, maybe a few mp3s and video clips, and things like that. also, the ability to host a forum (that means php and mysql capabilities and all that basic stuff) would be nice.

We have used IpowerWeb.com for a lot of years for several sites. They are very consistent. I opt for the older Cpanel instead of the VDeck config for Unix, but they also have windows boxes now.

Some people have said bad things about IPowerWeb, and I am sure someone will respond with a negative comment, but that probably has to do with the shear number of sites they are hosting. They are good about security and they do not let you have command line access and a few other things that some require.

ive been with hostandfly.com and haven't had any problems since. Service is good and customer support is great aswell.

 

You should check out Dreamhost.com (with the promo code WEBPROMOS) or Site5.com -- both equally good hosts.

Actually for me money was not a problem as I was more interested in good quality service. I was just lucky that I found a good host. They have also make mysql tables for me when I was having problem with them

 

a1whs is cheap and allow you to have quite a lot of domains.

I'm using Lunarpages.com service is good however getting extra hardrive space has been a problem...they just ask for too many conditions...and then you get only 500 Mb ...just think about it...

 

canaca.com. I have a few sites with them and they offer huge storage and bandwidth starting just under $4 a month if you register for 24 months. Never had any technical issues with them so they're ok my books.

When several of their data centers went down in Boca Raton during Katrina, the owner of the Hosting Service, Joe, flew down to Boca from upperstate N.Y and pulled his drives from the center, and flew back to get us all up and running within 24hours. Now THAT is service.

Plus he's a great guy and hostpc has been around for awhile now.
