I had created a site targeting some keywords based on Google Keywords tool and market samurai. Before creating a site, i had researched keywords and those keywords have significant amount of search per month which was worth targeting. Now my site is in first page of google, and the search volume per month has decreased drastically which is making my labor worthless in terms of monetization. Have you guys. experienced this same thing ever? Had i done something wrong in keywords research or is there any solution for these kinda hazardous problem?
It happens all the time - it's like a rollercoaster. Sounds like you know what you're doing with SEO - but it's not a static thing. Try searching Google for "your keyword" + Forum to see what people are saying - you might pick up some new keyword ideas. Tough one though! Good luck. Trevor.
Are those "exact match" search numbers? Sometimes there's a huge difference in the amount of searches. Also is this a seasonal keyword? Both Google and Wordtracker goes back a year to determine the monthly/daily averages. So the November/December or summer months search numbers might be skewing the results. For instance I'm sure there aren't many searches for "air conditioners" in December, but according to the search tools there are (supposedly). Also if you're searching with your browser the "Preferences" may be showing you different results. Try scruggle.com, MarketSamurai, Rankchecker, etc. to see the actual rank.
Thankx for these replies. @bob25---> Those are exact matched keywords. They were not seasonal or of particular brand or model. And i am trying Market samurai for my marketing suffs. I dont know how to deal with this. More replies please
I just noticed you said the search volume decreased dramatically. Was the search volume from a few months ago from the old keywords tool? The new keyword tool doesn't include Google's partner sites and is more accurate now. However, this is for Adwords advertisers, so it probably includes PPC (both search and content), along with software queries (MarketSamurai, MicroNicheFinder, etc.) as well. Are the Wordtracker (organic, but different database) numbers relatively close? Also try using Google's keyword tool or MS and check the trends, it sometimes can skew the search count as well.
If you make it in one field then your other fields might suffer. Are you sure you are ranking for the right keywords that attract a great number of search volume?
