Understanding the mathematics of link development

I am just trying to figure out how all this might work. I sort of got inspired by using Mong's backlink watch tool and I noticed one of my DP threads had page rank. I was like, that is cool.

    So I am curious.

If 1 site is linked to my site it will give me a small percentage of pagerank depending on that site's page rank, correct?

So if two site which have an even page rank of 1 link to my site then approximatly how much of a boost would that give me? If we cannot speak in exact terms then , how about relative terms.

Obviously 4 sites with a page rank of 1 linked to you would give twice the the boost as 2 sites. But would 2 sites with a page rank of 2 give the same result.

I am also curious if there is a boost in page rank from sites that link off of sites. Say a site with page rank of 2 links to a site , would a site that the second site links to recieve a boost in page rank?

    I

I'm too sure of exactly how the PR math works out.

Don't forget, though, that PR is NOT directly related to your site rankings. It is indirectly related, because a high PR site prob has more quality backlinks. But it is easy for a PR 2 site to outrank a PR5 site if the on-site SEO is better and/or the anchor text of their links are better. :)
