Microsoft site reports show unique visitor figures but no data on total number of visitors/return visitors. They also supply stats for top referring pages. If unique visitors were 2000 but total visitors referred through top referring pages were 3000 does the latter figure indicate total visitors better? Could I postulate that an equivalent of 1/3 of uniques were visiting again? Also, most of my traffic is "bookmark no referrers" these are included in the unique visitors figure but obviously not on referring pages. Is there a generally held view on what proportion of these return to a site? How can I cut out all the guess work? Could anyone recommend any free software that I could use?
