I own a site that will remain anonymous for now unless you really need to know then PM me; The following scenario is what I am having trouble understanding: Facts: 1.) Aged Domain from 2001, it does have 1 registrar drop 2.) Unique content across 80% 3.) Webmaster tools reports about 1000 back links, yahoo about 1800, pr3 if anyone cares. 4.) Backlinks are keyword targeted from a few different types of sites including articles, directories, and a few blog posts. Now that we have the facts straight here is what we are seeing, across all Google International domains, when we search for our site with a keyword we have been working on for a long time we come up in position 12-15 (2nd page). What I mean by ALL domains I really mean it (Australia, China, Japan, Israel, Russia ... and many more). Web master tools reflects that we are in the 200th position for the same keyword when we select the Web Only and United States, in fact here is the question... Can we assume that when Google does update its serps for our targeted keyword can we expect to jump to the second page like the rest of the international sites? Can we actually email/contact Google for a reconsideration on SEPRs for Google US based on the international sites SERPs? Recently we contact them for a reconsideration because we felt that the site was suffering in indexed pages, shortly after sending the email, they sent us a confirmation that it was received, about 3-4 weeks later we see a significant jump in indexed pages and crawling of the site has actually moved along very nicely. Actually our index page count jumped 3 fold, and we our site maps are about 55% crawled versus before we were at 10-13% crawled. So taking into consideration they listened once, does anyone feel that we should try again to contact them regarding the International SERPs and the Google US SERPs? Your feedback is appreciated and thanks in advance! ________________________________________ Please move thread to: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12 Sorry for the mistake
It's very likely that is was a coincidence that your indexed pages increased when you submitted a re-consideration request. Most of the time you don't even get a reply back and the acknowledgement that you received is just an automated answer. No you can't ask them to align your international serps with US ones, the algorithm does the ranking and no manual intervention is allowed (unless something needs to be fixed urgently). From what you outlined, it seems you don't have quality links (article directories, web directions and blog posts seems to me a cheap way to get links, nothing editorial but I might be wrong here but you will know looking at your backlinks). So you need more good links with targetted anchor text to move in US serps.
I figured asking them to align the SERPs wouldn't work but do you think its going to harm me? I have hired an SEO specialist as he would like to call himself to develop quality links for the site, 85% are targeted while the remaining are just direct links to the site. I feel that the quality of links can be improved but fail to see what else I could do to gain authority. Any advice would be appreciated.
