Understanding "drop-offs"

In the Visitor Flow section, there is the "drop-offs" metric.

Does the drop off refer to visitors leaving the site there? (It may be, but I don't think this is exclusively it, there may be something else...)

I think the drop-offs may include the exit rates and something more, but I'm getting mixed up a bit.

Help me clear this out. How do you interpret the "drop-off"?

Yes, the drop-off rate are the # of people who exit from that page. It can be a telling analytic to help you see how many people are going to another page from that page and how many are dropping off. I'd try an A/B test of the page, tweaking something on it to see if the drop-offs decrease. Depends on what the page is though.
